Comments (17)My favorite combo is the Sharp AX-1200K + 30" trim kit over a Dacor MOV130S and matching Dacor MWDV30S warming drawer. The black center of the Sharp unit is the same width as the Dacor units in this case. My reasoning: the Sharp supersteam microwave is so versatile and the Dacor "Discovery" oven is one of the best available. The Sharp microwaves, convection bakes, supersteams and combines convection/steam. I just reheated steak the other day and it was incredible - still juicy and flavorful and not over-cooked like standard microwave reheating or convection reheating would do. Also, it's hard to compete with the quality of the food when steaming veggies, seafood, poultry, etc. A lower priced alternative is the Bosch wall oven and warming drawer - also with matching width black glass center compared with the Sharp. I personally own the Sharp supersteam oven, a Dacor "Renaissance" oven and a Bosch warming drawer....See MoreGas Range & Microwave: Bosch or Electrolux
Comments (1)If you are talking about all of these appliances being the same brand, you will find few here on GW that think that is advisable and some even use the term "Matchy Matchy" There is not one appliance manufacturer that excells at everything. Elux does well with cooking appliances and at least (in my case--5 years no problems in their wine fridges) but you will find few positive posts or even threads about their Fridges and Dishwashers. To answer (some) of your original question "Performance and Reliabibilty" of Elux (since I have owned these for 5 years now), We are very happy with the performance of our Elux Appliances--I'll give you a little detail about each one: 1 Elux Icon 30" Convection Oven/Oven. Love the smoothly and fully gliding out shelves--. This is important to us as the oven is below counter Made checking the Thanksgiving Turkey a lot easier to baste and check on. We like the very large window and the interior lighting We like the large (about half the width of the oven) easy to read and operate display/control panel--Why? I use glasses for reading only, we have a 2 story house The reading glasses are ALWAYS on "the wrong story" so being able to read that display without trotting upstairs is a BIG PLUS!! It has been trouble Free for 5 years now. 2 Elux Icon Designer Speed Oven. Love the speed and the convenience of it. Does baked potatoes in about 15 minutes as compared to 55 mins for our large oven."Preprogrammed modes" for speed cooking, are built into the menu.Potatoes Casseroles, etc etc. I used this function when Mojavean and I had a contest to see who could bake a potatoe the fastest (He has a Miele) I selected "Potato" It then asked me, "How many" and then it set the time, temp and how much "Nuking" it would do. (Speed cooking is a combination of High temp cooking/baking and microwaving). Again we like the large Readout/control area, and the fact that it is so easy to just use it as a microwave--just punch in the time and hit start. It too had been trouble free, except I had to have the handle tighten--lock washers were added--so I shouldn't see that problem again, and in fact the $125 that cost me, is the ONLY repair bill in 5 years for all these appliances. (One Caveot) The Elux Speed oven does not broil due to the fact that its upper burner is covered by a steel cover with slots(non removable)((The Miele Speed oven will Broil)). The Elux does everything else Though, Bake/convection bake, Roast, Grill, even popcorn 3 Elux Icon Induction Cooktop. Had this close to a year now. We are still amazed how fast and controllable it is. We had a speed contest (Boiling Water) between the Elux Induction and a "Fairly Souped up"--but not "Supercharged" Gas Range, A Blue Star with 18K burners as I recall. My poor friend Scott(Mojavean) is still looking for the doors for that Blue Star---as the Elux Induction "Blew them off" LOL. The cooktop has been trouble free Extremely Easy to clean, and Quiet--at least with mine and cheap Emeril-ware pots/pans it has yet to make a noise--that I've heard---have yet to hear its fan. 4 Elux Icon Designer Series Wine Fridge. Keeps wine cool, fairly quiet, I can hear it but I must purposely listen for it. Trouble Free. So there you have it, a mini review (or not so mini) of my experiences with the Elux Appliances for five years now. Good luck on your "Quest" Gary...See MoreMiele floor model vs new Bosch? Stove/cooktop is next!!
Comments (70)SO, there was no word from Mr. Appliance today AND Miele was also unable to reach him ??? Did they not offer to put you on their in house guy's sched. at that point ? Do not disagree with you about EXPECTING a working DW - floor model or not. However, you didn't get that and there is no going back to square one. It's like a wrecked car - it's not EVER going to be unwrecked. You chose to pursue a remedy and that's what has turned into a fiasco! I'm not convinced that if you had gone in on the 9th ( which makes it only 20 days, not a month) that FL Builders wouldn't have stonewalled you then too. Perhaps they would have convinced you to have it repaired and they would have sent their "guy" who just may have been from your favorite: new york minute - then how much agro would you be writing about. Additionally, your first contact with the actual manufacturer who underwrites the warranty was on the 15th or 16th making it 5-7 business days depending on how you count em. Now 7 days doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy but it's not an eternity either. I'm more concerned @ MR. Appliance going AWOL and Miele's inability to get movement. The svc. cntr. is still open the left coast crowd - maybe another call to them for an explanation @ Mr. App. at least. Maybe they'd bump you up their guy's list - though the person to make that happen won't be in until tomorrow on the East Coast. "What silly things have I done? " Not exactly silly , but going back to the unhelpful , and stonewalling dealer to expedite the repair and alter the terms of the deal ( xtended warranty refund ) was not your finest moment. I understand you wanting to be rid of this mess, and I hope you can get you $$$ quickly - but prepare yourself for another battle with FL. B and your cc co. If it (battle) doesn't happen, great - but you'll drink less and have fewer grey hairs if in fact it shakes out that way. Remember the dealer experience when they wanted your $$$ - think about how they'll act when asked to give it back to you ! Be sure to get EVERYTHING IN WRITHING from the dealer when returning the DW....See MoreHow do you store and organize light bulbs?
Comments (36)Get an ornamental screw-hook, screw it into the pantry ceiling, hang a bag on it that holds the light bulbs. Or a couple of bags, with different kinds sorted in each bag That's IF the ceiling is high enough that you won't bang the bags with your head while travelling below. In which case ... the screw goes into a window frame? ole joyful...See Morethisishishouse
