HAVE: Frontline plus for dogs/cats all sizes
Comments (10)I work in a veterinary hospital, so the Frontline is not expired, as we order it quite frequently. We have not heard ANY complaints of the Frontline "diminishing in effectiveness", I use it on my animals and wouldn't trust anything else. I'm not here to get into a debate over which product works best - I'm just trying to make some trades and not get burnt (thank you plantermunn for the advise). I did not sell under any other name, it was a couple years ago - before the rates and reviews were up and going I believe. If it would make you more comfortable I can give you email addresses of the 10-15 people I dealt with at that time that were more than pleased by our trade - not an issue just let me know. I can not attest for anything bought off of ebay, but my the Frontline I am selling is legit....See MoreSomething better than Frontline? Fleas and Ticks?
Comments (7)Advantage works well for fleas, though I'm not sure any better than Frontline... but Advantage has absolutely NO effect against ticks (it ONLY kills insects, not arachnids like ticks). one of the best products for tick control is Amitraz, sold as 'Preventic' collars. More effective than Frontline but NOT for use on cats- ONLY dogs. Revolution is probably a bit less effective against ticks than Frontline, but it has some effect and it's not greasy at all. That stuff you taste in the Frontline product is NOT the Frontline itself, but the oily product that it is mixed with. Frontline's toxicity is very slight, far less than most other pesticides, but I cannot comment on its 'good flavor'- not meant to be tasted I am sure. I have lots of dogs so I don't particularly like this product either when I have to treat all my dogs at once as then there is a large greasy mess on the furniture and them for a day or two. But I don't have a tick problem, just fleas, so I sometimes use Comfortis instead (no grease, and MUCH faster effect), or even Revolution (no grease, but a lot slower effect against fleas)....See MoreWhat's the story on Frontline (Plus?) online?
Comments (3)There is a generic version of both Frontline and Frontline Plus, aka Fiproguard and Fiproguard Plus. The "plus" is an added ingredient that is a breeding inhibitor for fleas, however fipronil (primary ingredient in all these medications) will kill both fleas and ticks. Personally I have good luck with just plain fipronil (Fiproguard) without the added ingredient for my two dogs, but flea populations here are not too bad. A lot depends on where you live. Fipronil takes 24 hours to kill ticks, but that is soon enough to prevent them from transmitting Lyme disease. The ticks just pull off or fall off. The generic is cheaper, and online is cheaper, but any of these meds are equally effective, regardless of where you buy them, providing they have a valid expiration date. The hype about guarantees and efficacy was profit motivated propaganda by the makers of Frontline before the drug went off patent. Comments (2)O.K. How do you split it? Like I have two dogs that are 55 lbs. and 9 1/2lbs. Are you saying buy the one for the bigger dog and split it or what? I'm not quite sure I understand. Would I not o.d. my smaller dog and u.d my larger dog? Please explain. I am all for saving money and find this interesting, and if it would work would be willing to try it as long it wouldn't hurt....See MoreNinapearl
