Good Movie!!

I went to see a really good movie yesterday and thought I would pass it along. It was "Hello, My Name is Doris" starring Sally Field. It was hilarious! We both had tears in our eyes at times at her performance. The loudest laughter in the theater was from 2 men. One reviewer suggested that Sally Field should get an Oscar nomination. I highly recommend it.

Last night we saw Greek Wedding 2 and I plan to see Doris next weekend.

I enjoyed GW2, just not as much as the first one. It got a bit too silly and over the top when it could have stayed tasteful and funny. That said, i am so glad to see movies without gore, cursing and all around violence.

I think it was released a week ago. It wasn't at our main theater but at a smaller one that usually has movies that won at Sundance or had their run at the more popular theaters then moved down. In other words, don't wait for it; you might want to look for it.

I loved it too - and to know that it is based on a true story is even more poignant. Judy Dench did a great job of portraying Philomena.

We've watched two of the four segments of Midsomer Murders, Set 22. (On a DVD from our library.) We must be getting close to having seen 100 of these mysteries. We have one more segment of The Paradise to watch. (Recorded on DVR from PBS.) I hear there is to be another season of this adaptation of an Emile Zola story.

Had you already seen this movie...or did you watch it last night. I see it can also be watched on Hulu. I check the Lifetime movies to see what's playing...I enjoy pluggin in my ear buds and quietly listening while Denny is blaring the tv. He needs hearing aids...8)

My almost 21-year-old daughter saw American Sniper a couple of weeks ago and loved it. She said that after the movie was over, the entire theater was deathly quiet. No one moved while all the credits rolled through. And then everyone left, as quiet as can be. She said you could hear a pin drop as everyone left. Respectful, I guess. And perhaps blown away by what these great heroes, all of our military people, actually went through over there . . . and here, afterwards as well. I'm anxious to see it, but as the mom of someone who served two tours in Afghanistan, I'm steeling myself as to how it will probably affect me. To me, every soldier is someone's beloved son, daughter, husband, wife or good friend. From what I hear, i'll need to wear waterproof mascara and bring along a lot of Kleenex.

I found Greek Wedding II not at all as good as the first one. Sadly, that often happens in the "sequel." We had a choice between "Doris" and "Greek Wedding," and I'm sorry we didn't pick "Doris." Maybe this weekend.

Thanks for the review. I'd like to see it and I'm trying to convince my movie buddy that it would be a good choice. I don't think that I convinced her, but maybe your review will.

My sixteen year old and I went to Zootopia over spring break and we both loved it. Judging by Rotten Tomatoes, we were far from alone! 98% fresh reviews by critics and 95% by ordinary audience goers like my son and me.

My daughter and I saw "Hello, My Name is Doris" today. We thought it was excellent.

I went with your positive reviews of "Doris" and saw it a few days ago. It was really good. Sad, funny, poignant. It had some great moments and Sally Field was excellent. Next I'll see the Greek Wedding on Monday. Tickets are $6 on Monday. My two nieces saw Greek Wedding last night and they loved it. I'm amazed to find two movies that are any good, so thanks for all the reviews!!
