Bedroom Casements

Jeanie R

Replacing 2nd floor bedroom windows. All are currently double hung windows. I have a total of 4 windows 36 x 55 and 2 windows 32 x 55. Also a small bathroom window would be awning style. All would be full replacement versus inserts.

I hear so much positive about casements and as I look at other homes I see a lot of them. However, I don't seem to see houses with a lot of just single window casements, more so the groups of two and three windows together appear to be casements. Most single windows I see as I "stalk" my community are double hung.

Questions: Are there weight or other issues with the sizes I need that would specify only DH? Are there issues with my windows being "singles" that DH is the preferred way? Is the "right way / traditional way" DH and casements would be "wrong"?

Sorry for the questions, the contractors I spoke with haven't helped guide me very well. I don't blame them as they have quoted both and are letting me pick.
