I have IBS-D and got a prescription for Welchol, which actually is a cholesterol lowering drug, but was found to help cancer patients having severe diarrhea due to chemo and radiation treatments. It has worked for me along with taking very potent probiotics. However, now my insurance won't cover it and the alternatives they suggest, do not contain the same ingredients. I've been eating two little dark chocolate Mounds bars daily and find it gives me the needed fiber to bulk the stool. A friend takes Metamucil twice a day. I hope you can find what has been working for you.

It's just a branded probiotics, you should be able to get the same results with any good quality probiotics. I take them daily it definitely helps me. I usually buy at Costco what ever brand they have. I started my little dog one that had awesome reviews and it's made a huge difference in her. She rarely has diarrhea now and eats much better, no more gas! Some of my meds make me have diarrhea with the probiotics that is greatly reduced.

I use the Amazon auto ship, so it comes every three months, three boxes to a shipment, no need to order again and again and again....

I don't enjoy having to drive around to shop sales, so having this automatically mailed to the house works best for me. I love the Digestive Advantage, works great. Being Asian, I'm lactose-intolerant and it's getting worse with age :(. Sometimes I have to take two pills, if I'm having a dinner that's really dairy-heavy.

There's several different versions or formulas of the digestive advantage, maybe that would help someone to know which one of the formulas you use? Looking at the Amazon link I see about 5 different ones. Regular, intensive bowel, lactose, etc. I was just reading the reviews on amazon and many people said the company owner changed and they changed the formula including adding wheat and soy so it now contains gluten. So if you can't have gluten be careful.

lindaohnowga - What is IBS-D? Research shows the best ingredient for IBS in probiotics is Bifidobacterium infantis. I know Earth's Pearl probiotics contains it, but don't know about others mentioned, and have not yet checked DA for contents.

Not to get too graphic since we all know about diarrhea, but no mention has been made of lack of control, and I wonder how many also suffer with accidents from that aspect of the illness.
