I have had an assembly line going in my kitchen today. I am baking for our Garden Club plant and bake sale tomorrow. I have these all done and cooling. I have chocolate pudding cakes with Godiva semi chocolate chips in the oven now. It's smelling wonderful. And all I get was to lick the chocolate cake bowl before it went in to wash. I sure would love a bowl full.
I have spiced apple, strawberry cherry, blackberry raspberry, and the Chocolate. 2 of each. Added the chocolate ones.

Comments (9)My tallest orienpets are 7 feet tall this year, and this is only their second season for me. I am sure the cooler temperatures and fairly reliable moisture have helped them grow taller this season. I mail ordered in a bunch of very sturdy 8 foot bamboo stakes. They work very well for support, but I am always afraid of spearing a lily bulb when inserting it into the ground. Luckily, most lilies (orienpets, LOs, Lilium regale, etc.) usually grow fairly straight up from a bulb. The Lilium lankongense hybrids like 'Karen North', 'Eurydice' and 'Ariadne', etc., as well as Lilium speciosum will often wander horizontally for a good distance away from the bulb before appearing above ground, each year in a different direction....See MoreIt sure smells good in here!
Comments (12)Here's the banana bread recipe and I use the method I mentioned for cooling my bread. Sour Cream Banana Bread 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup oil 2 eggs 1 cup mashed bananas (2 medium) 1/2 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon vanilla 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour bottom only of a 9 X 5 loaf pan. In large bowl, beat together sugar and oil. Add eggs, bananas, sour cream and vanilla, blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. Add flour, baking soda and salt, stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350F for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely. Wrap tightly and store in refrigerator. Makes 1 loaf _______ ***Here's my tip for any fruit breads I make, and been doing this for ages: Remove from pan, let set on cooling rack for about 5 minutes. In a storage conatiner, that one loaf fits in, line wax paper from bottom to sides. Place loaf in the container and seal tightly with lid and leave overnight. Makes for a super moist bread, even though the bread is most already. Comments (11)We took the ferry to Martha's Vineyard today then took a tour bus around the island. It was beautiful and the weather was cold but sunny. Tonight we had ham steak with pineapple and brown sugar sauce. Also had steamed rice, beets and a tossed salad. Tonight we had popcorn for a snack. Comments (11)We had the left over ham/broccoli hot dish for lunch. Even better the next day. SPICED APPLE RINGS 6 large apples (I use Braeburns) Peel, core and slice into rings, putting the rings immediately into cold water with lemon juice. In a large pot: 3 cups water, 1 cup sugar,1 cup cinnamon candies, like Red Hots. 1/3 cup white vinegar 2 - 3 TBSP of whole cloves. Bring syrup to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Drain apple rings and add to syrup. Let come back to simmer and cook until almost tender, gently stirring occasionally. Let cool in syrup. Just a note, the apple rings 'get as red as the bought ones. I think I'll try adding red food coloring next time I make them....See More- 10 years ago
