scared the daylights out of me!
Comments (12)I have always lived in SoCal and these things have been around as long as I can remember. They give me the creeps, too, but then again, so do most bugs, especially unpredictable jumpers and fliers (ie, crickets, grasshoppers, june bugs, etc.). The previous owners of our house had 4 peach trees growing along the side yard and we removed them immediately. The next year when I dug a bed for a garden, there must have been a hundred grubs in the 4 by 12 foot area. I was grossed out. I kept killing them, but I missed a bunch because for a couple of years, we had these things like crazy! It's been about 5 years now and I don't see the grubs anymore, although yesterday we did have a beetle trying to commit suicide by ramming repeatedly into the slider. We were actually entertained! I've never been bitten by one, only had them buzz my head. I don't think they bite people. Michelle...See MoreScared my Lady Di Heliconia right out of the ground
Comments (2)Yes, the vendor is right. Muy heliconias were in an area bordered by the house on one side and a curved sidewalk on the other. When I pulled mine out they had roots 5 layers deep! I didn't know of the problem, so was very lucky they were contained....See MoreIdiots bug the heck out of me
Comments (37)I don't have any advice to add other than repeat what others have said about calling your cellphone provider, maybe they can block her # from their end. I do have a "funny" story - I have a friend who eventually had to have her # changed, at the cost of the phone company. Seems they printed HER phone number by mistake in a yellow pages ad for a towing company...You can imagine the calls she got! She didn't want to change it right away because she had a very pregnant daughter and a very ill mother, and didn't want to miss calls from either of them due to a new #. Good luck, Monica!...See MoreMy daughter is so down, she just found out
Comments (9)It's always complicated when mom knows...it's important that she have a confidante somewhere that doesn't take sides. If she and her husband can work this out, which they can if they both want to, then they need people cheering them on heart and soul. Otherwise, each time they see you it will remind them of their failures - I recommend the BEST book written for this situation, for her: How Can I Forgive You, by Janis Abrahms Spring. Also, After The Affair by the same author. She's excellent. Better to work it out with a willing parter and create a real relationship (it wasn't real before and during the affair) than to leave, bitter and with baggage. On the ohter hand, if he or she is unwilling, then there's not much that can be done. There are few things in this world more profound and meaningful than going through the painful process of forgiveness and repentance. Once accomplished correctly, nothing can compare. As a mother, your (faked if necessary) neutrality will allow her to make that decision to stay and work on it or to leave, all on her own, which will make her stronger. Hard, isn't it? This life is about learning and growing, changing, discovering what you didn't know about yourself, tweeking, perfecting - this could be an amazing opportunity as painful as it may be for your daughter and husband to truly look at themselves and each other for what is real and what they could have once they become real with each other. Just stinks that sometimes people have to do it the hard way!...See More- 10 years ago
