Removing the plastic should be done carefully, which is probably what you have done. The plastic can cause issues if left on too long, so getting it off after 3 weeks is good. If you have high humidity outside, this would just exemplify issues inside the bag of plastic. They should not be in full sun. Should be kept in filtered sunlight to shade w the heat still until you have new growth coming from the scion. Sometimes the scion just do not take for what ever reasons and I will not go into that. Redo if you have more scion material available. Rick

Aloe you have taken good care of her. it looks like a chunk of pine bark with grass growing out of it.the color of the caudex is really nice on these older plants.im pretty sure I want get see my seedlings with such a nice caudex

Looks rather dehydrated to me, even dead? It’s likely because of the wrong mix (way too peaty) it’s repelling the water, you pour water in, it runs straight out, you think you’ve given it a good drink but in reality it’s just bypassed the mix and run straight out of the pot. It’s also potted too low down, mix needs to be much higher up the pot. Check the roots, they may still be alive, or they could be too shrivelled up, if so place the plant in a cup of water for a few minutes and see if anything plumps up, don’t leave too long. I think ‘dirt’ is the right word here! Dirt in the U.K. is what we sweep up and throw in the rubbish bin...I think that wants doing with your growing mix in this case ;-) Gill

Here's what I found. It's really wet because I just hosed it off. The part at 4:00 is mushy, but that's the only mushy part to it. So I snapped it off. It broke in what seemed like a natural place. Here it is turned upside-down. This part was facing down into the ground. I don't know that much about roots, but they seem firm, not mushy. Something I think is interesting is the piece on the bottom of this pic was in the ground lower and off to the side, still attached. It's as if the hosta put more growth up higher and made roots closer to the surface because that's where the water was. It was getting some water, but not the deep watering it had before. .....I'm guessing, so does that sound logical? Here's kind of a side view of how it was in the ground So I still don't know if it's dead or alive. I potted it up deeper in the pot with only a little bit showing. I was afraid to cut the top with a knife like ademink said, but I can still do that. I also didn't use any bleach on it, should I? Or is it.... Yikes..... A ZOMBIE hosta? Poor thing. :-(
