After just getting off the phone with Frigidaire/Electrolux customer service, I felt it would be appropriate to inform all potential appliance buyers as to my experience. Unfortunately my review is not positive. We have been in a custom built home for approximately 3.5 years that we bought from a builder. The builder used all Frig "Professional" appliances - Huge full size fridge/freezer side by side, stove top range, dual built-in ovens, dishwasher and microwave. We have had to have service on every single appliance within the last 24 months with the last call being about a power supply issue with the microwave. The service calls are being done through our home warranty program and not Frigidaire. Unbeknownst to me, the factory warranty is only for 1 year. I guess they are familiar with their own quality issues and won't provide anything further unless you buy an extended plan. Today's customer service call was a request on my end to ask for some assistance in replacing the microwave as the HW company stated that the repair was greater than the value of the built-in microwave. Furthermore, due to the frequency in which we are experiencing problems with all of the "Professional" series appliances and the fact that a 3.5 year old appliance is useless, I was hoping for a couple of good faith options. The agent, who was very nice, was texting a supervisor, stated that the item was only covered for 1 year and they were not obligated to do anything further as it was not covered. Fair enough, just not my type of vendor/partner and want others to know this as well. Certainly, for the money, there a better performing appliances out there. Frigidaire management should be a little more in tune with customer experience as this will have a much greater negative impact over the long term than if they had been supportive in options for a single microwave unit that didn't measure up to good quality in the short term. Safe to say, will never buy a Frigidaire appliance again and I will make sure that friends, family and colleagues all hear my grievance.

You can drive to work in a Toyota Yaris or a Porsche 911. Both will get you where you're going via an internal combustion engine, maybe even with an MP3 player, and possibly even on board navigation. But the difference in driving the two can NOT be understood by someone who doesn't enjoy the nuances of driving. Regular folks who think buying a Porsche is a silly extravagance will never ever "get" it. They don't know what they don't know about the differences between the two, so they are perfectly satisfied with a boring econobox. Frigidaire is the boring tinny 1970's econobox of the appliance world with a few racing stripes to give itself airs. And the people reviewing it, well, not to sound elitist here, but they don't have experience with a higher standard to compare it to. They don't know what they don't know about the nuances of cooking. Anyone can "steam fry" a meal. Very few can do an actual stir fry. If you don't have the budget to make a purchase of a pro style range at this point, that's fine. Very few of us are able to get what we 100% want as if money is no object. But, you really have to look at the ultimate goal here and keep your eyes on the prize. Spending $1700 on something that doesn't function any better than something that costs $500 is wasting that money that you do spend. I'd suggest really analyzing your goals here. A 36" IS a step up in "space" but a true 36" pro style range has a pretty large oven that takes a long time to come to temp and is overkill for most situations unless you need to fit in a full sheet pan. 6 burners are usually overkill for most for 90% of the time that they use the range. Thus the popularityh of the 48" range, as it has a smaller oven that gets used more often. And you can do a griddle surface on it as well. If pro style cooking is your ultimate goal, then think about doing a 48" rather than a 36". Or consider doing a pro style cooktop like one Bluestar has now, and buying a second hand wall oven from Habitat for Humanity or Craig's List. That will give you an immediate return for your investment that won't need to be repeated. As long as you are also budgeting for the high CFM hood that goes hand in hand with having a high BTU cooking machine in your home. If you size the oven cabinet for a 30" oven and buy an extra filler or two, you can replace the oven at any point down the road with a more capable model but you will have enjoyed the FIRE of the cook surface until that happens.

I have a Thermador induction cooktop, made by BSH who also make the Bosch. The Thermador has timers on each hob which I use all the time. It gives me peace of mind to set the timer and leave it, knowing that if I forget, the cooktop will turn off. I use the timers for everything, from boiling an egg to making stock, melting chocolate or simmering a stock or stew, anything that isn't done in the few minutes I'm standing by the cooktop. I've posted my bridging two hobs several times on this forum, pointing out that if you want to span two hobs, go ahead. The only danger is if you have both hobs at high power and run them for some time. I think you could damage the ceramic between the two where there's no sensor to shut the cooktop down in case of overheating. We use a cast iron griddle across two hobs to make pancakes. The cooktop is set to medium power and we have it on for about 15 minutes. Works perfectly. Sorry but I know nothing about the Bosch or Frigidaire units you're considering, just reporting on the timers and ability to bridge on my cooktop. Cheryl

I would mix appliances as the majority of folks do here. Electrolux makes great ovens and induction cooktops but their fridges are very problematic (per many posts here) Miele makes a great dishwasher, but their speed oven is not all that user friendly(see posts here about having to use menu to get to microwave mode for example) Their ovens don't have the nice big windows on their doors and their shevles don't glide WAY out on ball bearings--a la Electrolux. Jenn-Air makes the usually rated #1 Fridge for reliability but we see a lotta problems with some of their other stuff. Best thing to do is look at each appliance do a search for like GE Fridge Reliability, Fridigaire cooktop reliability etc etc. Fortunately this site saved you some greef on the KA ovens. Good Luck!
