Mom is gone

Mom passed away last night at 7:40. I worked Monday and Tuesday and took the rest of the week off because we knew it would happen soon. Two of my three brothers were able to be here yesterday, but they had left to go get something to eat. My husband had just given her a small dose of morphine and a few minutes later she passed. I am already missing her.

Comments (15)Sharlee, my SIL gave me this poem the day after my mom died and I felt better for reading it. My mom's mind and body were broken but in death she became whole again. The Sailing Ship I am standing on the seashore. Suddenly a ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts out for the blue ocean. The memorial celebration went so well, a bright sunny day, people wrote condolence and memories on squares of vellum we provided, those who spoke each took a rose petal from the pink roses (Mom's favorites)and held it while they shared a rememberance, then placed it in a crystal bowl. I will make sachet's for my daughters from the petals. And we sent dozens of balloons sailing up toward the mountains with our love and wishes for Mom. My granddaughter made a collage of pictures of Mom from childhood, college, early wife and mothering, as well as recent pictures, and everyone enjoyed seeing them. All in all, a loving tribute. I am glad I made myself do it for her, when all I wanted to do was go to bed and pull the covers over my head. Comments (6)Thanks mav.So sorry to hear about your husband.I dont know how you do it.I cant imagine not having my husband with me.Yesterday we had to take the car to the garage to get the brakes fixed so we used my mothers car which my dad now drives.When I got into the passenger side of her car I started to cry hysterically.My hands were shaking and I was gasping for breath.I hadnt been in her car without her ever.I was having a panic attack.Luckily,we didnt have far to go so I was home in about 10 minutes.I really feel like Im falling apart.This was a huge setback for me.Im really sorry to be whining but I cant help it.I just miss her so much.I dont think I can go on for much longer....See MoreMy Mom Is Gone (Jannie)

I've spoken with my siblings and they understand I can't come for a visit right now, my husband is in a Rehab Hospital himself due to an exacerbation of Mulktiple Sclerosis. My brother is the Executor of the Estate. My two sisters have volunteered to help with the sorting of her belongings. I wrote my brother Bill "Billy" a long letter, thanking him for taking care of Mom for the last years since Dad died , for visiting her every day when she was hospitalized, for getting her hospice at home, and told him I will not challenge the will. I trust him, we were best pals growing up, and I know he'll do right for all of us. Mom wanted no wake or funeral; we will spread her ashes when the summer comes. Thank you for all your responses.
