Can I buy Milky Spore at HD? Lowes?
Comments (8)I agree that too many chemicals can affect the soil in the lawn adversely. I recommend spreading compost on your lawn and feeding it in the fall with a lawn fertilizer. Milky spore has worked for me but it does take 3-4 years to become effective. You can use corn gluten meal in the spring as a pre-emergent to prevent weeds from sprouting. I have found that HD and Loew's are deficient in many garden products that I use i.e., fish emulsion fertilizer, compost (not composted manure), corn gluten meal, cow and chicken manures and milky spore. Luckily, I live in Lancaster County and we have lots of local garden stores that stock these items....See MoreQuality fiberglass door needed that's not HD or Lowes
Comments (6)We got a Thermatru fiberglass door. Don't know if they have a distributer near you. They are top notch fiberglass. They look so much like real wood, you would have a hard time knowing the difference, but they cost just about as much for the higher end line. They offer lots of stain colors and options. This was worth the cost for us because we didn't want to worry about staining, cracking and expanding/contracting issues in this climate (Chicago)....See MoreHD Thomasville vs. Lowes Renggas
Comments (2)TJ, I'd look around a little more, neither of those brands has a particularly thick wear layer (the real wood on top). I think if you search this forum you will also see some less than stellar reviews of the finish on the Thomasville product. If your looking check out the following thick wear layer manufacturers, most are avilable online or at your local flooring dealer, best bet is a 3.2mm minumum with 4-5mm your best bet and comparable to the amount of useable wood in a 3/4" solid floor: - Owens Plank - Canterbury Flooring Signature Engineered - BR111 has some good lines but they also have some cr*p so check the specs first - Anderson again they have the good, the bad, and the ugly so check the specs Most of the rest are selling the same Chinese products with different names and thin wear layers. Personally you couldn't give me a 3/8" engineered product, most are rotary peeled, shorts, that can't be refinished....See MoreOther places to purchase building materials besides HD and Lowes?
Comments (10)Depends on what you are looking for. For my recent work on my current home (to prepare it for sale) and also sourcing stuff for my new build, I have found the following: Build.com - I bought hardware there. My sister bought floors for her reno. She likes them a lot. They sell everything. Good prices, different stuff than HD and Lowes but I don't know if everything they sell is high quality. Lightingdirect - obviously lighting. I bought most of my new build lighting from them. Faucetsdirect - again... They have a whole bunch of <...>direct places. Name brands at the best price. Ylighting - some exclusive stuff. Good prices for the brands and quality. Amazon.com - a whole lot of stuff you didn't really think they would sell...for excellent prices. You have to know what you are looking for otherwise searching through 173,289 surface mount lights is just too daunting. Wayfair - a surprising amount of stuff as well. Too much, maybe. You have to poke through a whole lot of pages to get to what you are looking for. Overstock.com Costco - certain things there cant be beat....See MoreCJ Mac
