Well, it's day 7 now for my Kbg reno. I don't see anything coming up yet.... I'm not too worried yet as I don't think it's too unusual to not see anything yet on day 7 Day 7 is very early. Relax. Keep telling yourself that it takes 21 days. :) but at what point, what day, do I consider it a total failure? ... If by day 20, Sept. 15, I don't see anything, do I still have time to try it again (rake, reseed)? Or do I wait longer than that? Don't worry. It will come in before that. The first little bit of mine started to come in at day 8. Since then it has been slow torture. It is now day 15, and the first areas are starting to knit together, others are just starting, and there are still a couple of bare spots, but it's a little better each day. So hang in there.

Vkoltke01, I'm sorry, I lost this thread, thanks for the compliment! Definitely great to have someone in the same area with the same cultivars to compare notes with. I'll be looking forward to your updates! Those Norway Spruce, do they get tall? I had a "Norway" something-or-other conifer removed from the front yard of a previous house because it girdled. As it was over 80 feet tall and dangerously close to the house the removal cost me a thousand bucks. A thousand bucks for a hole in the ground, oh well.... I just mention because if your plant is the same as mine, they get big! My neighbor has one over a hundred feet tall and still growing, but unfortunately with a trunk that split pretty low (and also planted too close to the house), so there is a serious risk of one of the "trunks" snapping off in high wind and crushing her roof. I like those trees, but advised her to remove it and hope she does! I mean, mature trees are wonderful, but sudden death due to falling trees is probably a bit of a bummer.... Paul

JonGoldman  Judging by your photos, you have enough seedlings in and around the gaps in those step stones to fill in real well by next June. Just keep to your plan. I know its hard to believe at this point but by next June 15th, you will be blown away with your new lawn. Rutgers  In my limited experience with KBG (two years), it will spread the most in June and July. I use a lot of compost. Weak areas, bare spots, dog pee spots repaired by plugging all get extra compost. When I have plugged the center of a bare spot and really need it to fill in from all directions, I use generous amounts of compost and alfalfa pellets. My results are nothing short of spectacular. Last spring, around May 15, 10 inch dinner plate sized dead spots, plugged with 3 inch plugs taken from an inconspicuous area, filled in completely by July 15. This year, my lawn has really shown the benefits of two years mostly organic fertilizing. I firmly believe that coaxing the highest performance from your lawn lies in the soil. How about day 3?? When I was growing up, my parents also closed off the DR to convert it to a BR. We had a 3 BR, 1BA home with 2 parents, 6 kids, dog & assorted cats. Needless to say, we needed more BR space as we got older (we had 4 girls in one BR & the 2 boys in another. When the DR was closed off the boys got that and we girls split...2/room.) After my sister & I (the oldest 2) had grown up & moved away, they reclaimed the DR. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I do have a piece of advice for you regarding pictures, please try to post them smaller with blank lines b/w them. It's difficult to see them when you have to scroll horizontally and vertically to get the whole picture. Do you have Microsoft Picture Manager? If so, you can resize your pics to under 500 x 500 pixels (resize using percentages to keep the correct ratio & not distort the picture.) If you don't have MS Picture Manager, utilize PhotoBucket's picture editing to reduce the sizes. Good luck and keep us posted!
