Comments (5)Thank you, milehighgirl! I did some more googling and found the photo of the larvae. They look exactly what I've been seeing! Okay, so it's a butterfly. I know butterflies will benefit my other plants later on and I don't think admiral butterflies normally do serious damage to their hosts (but I will research that further). Comments (2)Mechanical damage. Yup - probably a baby aphid. Keep an eye on it, soap should take care of them, just do not dilute it too much. Comments (10)The tiny round bug is Psyllobora vigintimaculata - Twenty-Spotted Lady Beetle (often some of the spots are overlapping), or possibly P. borealis (the western version). These lady beetles eat fungus and powdery mildew. The larva could be a leaf-roller or leaf-tier caterpillar. Comments (4)The yellow spots look like cedar apple rust to me. Best controlled by preventatively spraying any fungicide product containing myclobutanil as the active ingredient around May 10th-June 1st for your area. The easiest fungicide to get having this ingredient is Spectracide Immunox available at some Ace hardware stores or online.
