Will Wilt-Pruf protect against chili thrips?

Chili thrips invaded my garden last year and ruined the foliage and buds on most of my roses. I'm hoping they didn't survive winter, but in case they come back, I've been reading all morning about possible treatments. Last year I purchased Bonide with Spinosad and sprayed only in the evening when bees weren't active. But the chili thrips still ruined my roses for most of the season. I can only use products that are safe around edible crops.

I was lead to a Scientific Article from a comment made by Henry Kuska in 2010. The article is the type that usually goes way over my head, but from what I can gather Wilt Pruf antitranspirant spray somehow protects the plant from the western flower thrip. Well great! I have those too. But would it stand to reason that Wilt-Pruf might also protect plants from chili thrips? Thank you. I would appreciate any additional information anyone might have.
