Quite possibly the WORST company I have ever dealt with. You would be better off purchasing your cabinets from Home Depot - you will get better customer service, warranty, and quality. Showplace cabinetry is of inferior quality and the "Lifetime Warranty" is useless. If you decide to purchase from this company do yourself a favor and take video while your cabinets are removed from packaging and document everything. NOT that this will help you in the end because Showplace will blame the installer and you for using the wrong cleaning products (BTW -the only thing I ever used to clean my cabinets is a damp microfiber cloth). In response to our warranty addressing the inconsistent spray and overall fogginess of our black painted cabinets, the Showplace rep Cheryl Eisenman responded "Worn paint, what have they been using to clean this? Her first response is to blame the client instead of getting to the root cause of their own crappy product. You think they would be concerned if this is the final result they are actually sending to the client. The only representative from Showplace I have been able to actually speak to was the local rep Jason Heiner, he actually came to our home to view the issues for himself. Jason acknowledged the majority of the issues our dealer/installer brought to the attention of the warranty department. I had hoped that since their own rep witnessed the problems it would be resolved. In the end, the majority of our claim was denied. I contacted Jason and he reached out to the head of Customer Relations Kerry Hayes and indicated I would be receiving a phone call from her. Weeks later, no phone call, I contacted Jason again. Here is his texted response....."Showplace has made the decision and passed it on to your dealer and it is now between YOU and the DEALER. Showplace communicates only with their dealer base only. Please reach out to him going forward." All I can say to that is WOW! So basically, screw you. You are at the mercy of the dealer. Our dealer failed to submit our claim within their 1-year policy. How is this the client’s fault?? Are their "specially trained" DEALERS not an extension of their company?? They do NOT stand behind their product or the dealers that they choose to do business with. Our cabinets were delivered in March of 2021 and we here we are 2 years later and none of our warranty items have been replaced. The one item that was sent was of no better quality than the original product. The pictures speak for themselves. WORST experience ever, appalling BAD customer experience.

Steer clear of ColorQuartz. I bought five slabs of Akoya Pearl Quartz from International Granite and Marble (IGM). This quartz is made by ColorQuartz. Their sample was incredibly beautiful. It looked like real stone. It was to be delivered and installed while I was gone, therefore I asked IGM if I should come and approve the slabs before I left. They said no, because it was man-made, they would all look like the sample. They delivered and installed while I was gone. The material that was installed was of incredibly poor quality. It has little specks all over it. It looks like it is covered in freckles or made of tapioca. I called IGM and complained. They came to my home and looked at it and agreed with me. They said it would be up to ColorQuartz to refund my money or replace it. I called the local ColorQuartz rep. He said it was awful that the quartz looked so bad. He said he would do something that day or the next. He did not. I then called and complained to the ColorQuartz VP of Sales. He literally told me he didn't care. Repeatedly, he just said, "I don't care". I never heard of any sales person ever before say such a thing. IGM is no longer returning my calls, so I am not too pleased with them either. If they are a good company, they will drop ColorQuartz. I paid $6121.61 for those slabs. I am attaching photos. The one on the right is the actual, the one on the left is the sample.

Just to add my 2 cents: I have Vermont Danby marble for about 8 months now and have no stains on it. I use my kitchen all the time--tomatoes, vinegar, berries, wine, coffee, tea, etc. etc. and it is still the same color as the day it was installed. The sealers are wonderful and because the stone is indeed very dense it doesn't absorb stains. It does however etch, so if that would bother you, you should go with quartzite or engineered quartz. The beauty of the stone is unsurpassed in my opinion and I don't regret my decision one bit.

When a general contractor prices a project he/she is using a combination of actual bid prices from sub-contractors, actual cost records from previous jobs, and some guessing if some part of the work is highly unusual. This price will also include all of the different contractors mark-ups for their overhead & profit. It can never represent the true cost of the job but the contractor hopes it will be greater rather than less than that amount. When an architect estimates the cost of a project he/she must use published industry cost data sources like RS Means with ballpark modification for the region, and some phone calls to material suppliers for price verification, and a wild guess for what the overhead costs and mark-ups of subcontractors and the general contractor will be even before they are selected. To do more than this would be cost prohibitive for the owner even if it were not beyond the expertise of the architect, which, of course, it is. When an architect attempts to design to a preliminary construction cost budget there is no simple cost estimation procedure that can be used for guidance and intuition would be useless. The only effective cost control procedure would be to stop at several design stages and perform a cost analysis based on a decreasing number of assumptions with the last analysis occurring at the time of bidding when the architect would have as much design information as the bidders and would have a chance to come as close as possible to predicting their prices. Such a procedure is usually considered to be cost prohibitive by an owner for a residence and the final analysis would be pointless since the actual bids would soon be available. So, to express disdain for discrepancies between actual bid prices from real contractors and the preliminary budget based on preliminary assumptions is disingenuous at best and, at worst terribly naive and disrespectful of the professional difficulty of such a task. No architect can design to a budget without the owner paying for a cost control procedure that parallels the design process and even that could not be expected to be completely accurate unless the overhead costs and markups of the contractors was known, or if it were performed by a professional cost estimator familiar with residential construction, if such people even exist. Your attitude is not unusual and I am sympathetic to it. Most of my residential clients express the same ideas and concerns and think they need to know the cost of a project before consulting an architect. This happened just last week and I had to explain that the design and contractor cost efforts should proceed on parallel tracks with some milestones for assessment and reevaluation along the way and that there was no point in walking contractors through the house before a preliminary drawing had been produced. Similarly, I have tried to tell you of a better, more cost effective way to proceed and why amateur advice will cause you to spin your wheels at a time you need some good traction to get the project started. My advice, simply put, is that if you are willing to hire a professional designer you should let them do their job rather than trying to do it for them. If that is offensive to you, then letÂs agree to both be offended and I will promise to restrict my advice to my clients who, in addition to not being offended, actually pay me for my time.
