Opinions please - carpet samples for runner are in
Comments (73)I have talked to a couple of friends who looked "in real life" and a few who have seen the same pics that you have seen. And the verdict from people who know me is that while the tweed is certainly quite nice, the other is more "me". I do really really Iove the tweed and it feels amazing, but I am afraid that I have to agree. So, i have taken a couple of additional pics of two different sample which also show the wall color since it wasn't very visible in the others. I swear these are now the final two! Remember that they will be bound on the edges, so the one on the left would be brown, and on the right would be black. Votes please? So I can put this project to bed and move on to all the many others I have in mind! Maybe I should create a new thread for those who don't want to wade through tons of discarded options....See MoreStair runner dilemma
Comments (22)I think your installer is full of it trying to pass that off as "correct". Chicagoan's mock up clearly shows how it should look. No one would look at that and think 'the runner isn't centered on the lower stairs'. It's obvious the newel post intrudes into the space on those 2 stairs - your brain does not register that as the runner is off center. It's a re-do and I don't think this should be on your dime even if the runner has to be scrapped and re-purchased. If nothing else, your hand rail is on the right and most people will walk up the stairs closer to the rail so the placement of the runner now is dangerous....See Morehelp picking rug size and placement please!
Comments (8)Your house and new doors are beautiful! I agree with getting a rug just a bit wider than the doors. I think a brass and glass accent table beside the doors would look so pretty in place of your current one. They’d repeat the lovely gold fixtures and be a nice balance with the bigger, heavier entry table across the room. (First is on Overstock, second on Ballard Designs ... but a true vintage one would be great, too.)...See MoreFoyer Rug Placement
Comments (16)I like your idea of making a living space in the foyer. With the rug placement as suggested in red by @Sabrina. And with her idea of an {upholstered} bench/settee, you have an outlet there for a floor lamp or little table and lamp. Hang artwork there. For the doormat, nothing interfering with the stair landing area (you don't want a trip hazard coming down off last step), or foot traffic coming from the parlor opposite....See MoreRelated Professionals
