Please help me pull this pulled from dumpsters' bedroom together
Comments (21)Greywings, I have been coveting glass lamps lately so that is a great place to see if a small change would help! Jrueter, that looks great! I will show DH for all I could find last night were white washed walls. Thanks Grandmaof3, Accents are a great idea too. I will be honest I would love to like the room with just a change of paint color and a few small accents! Nosoccermom, I love the pics you posted and the natural pine is soooo lovely. I think mine might take a bit of sanding but I can try on the smaller pieces first! I already have an eggplant hall and navy guest bedroom abutting this room:( Maybe I will change the guest to grey and use the navy here! I am going to try a few paint samples on sat. to try and find a paint color first and after that if the pine pieces still make me say meh I will than decide how to change them out. Would a blue grey work the present comforter has dark grey with silver and robins egg accents. But I was afraid that a light blue might bring even more yellow undertones out of the wood. Thanks again!...See More2nd floor office entry- off master bedroom or hallway
Comments (26)Also...now that each bedroom has a bathroom...are you putting son in front bedroom? Just thought it might give younger girls more privacy and they could each have window seats, if they like. And it makes their rooms almost identical, except for bathroom window :) I'm guessing older son might want a desk or chair, but that's based on my nephew at that age...or maybe drums. Comments (2)This is just my opinion. I personally like a lot of colour so I’d probably change the duvet colour for some lush tropical print but I get the idea behind the white so it’s fine. Laundry hamper: sorry, I think it’s hideous and really jars with what you’re trying to achieve. Toss it and replace it with baskets type hampers like these or similar. I quite like the bar cart and think it works well with your tropical/Indian theme. Marble does not and neither do those thin pointy legs on the tables you like. Something like the bar cart in style but smaller would work. At the same time I’d move the lamp stand to the corner between the bar stand and the side wall. It’s a cool lamp but where it is gives the impression of a vulture overhanging the bed. For bedside lamps something with a shade similar to the main lamp would look “together”. The round mirror is the wrong size/shape for over the bed. If you want something over the bed (why a mirror?) I’d go for a long rectangular print you like, or move the print you already have there and put the mirror between the two doors where the print currently is. Or you could put your full length mirror there. I’m not sold on the idea of having all the artwork at the same height but matching frames would pull it all together. I think the frame you have on the Daybreak print works well so I’d go with that. You could change the chair for something similar in a tan/gold I think. Plant stands are a good idea but the ones you have chosen don’t work with your theme IMO. Something more like these in a lighter wood is more tropical/Indian I think. Put the plants in brass pots like this. I think the main issue I have with the things you have chosen is that they are more Swedish minimalist than tropical which is a bit more lush. You need to decide which it is that you really want....See MoreHow to break up this bonus room into a guest bedroom & office space?
Comments (41)I think I would make a design that has walls on the office as well. An office is not something that I consider a space that is pretty to look at and can get messy so having it in view of the public areas would bother me. The other part is what if you're on the phone do you want the noise from all the other areas to be transferring to your phone call? Say someone running the garbage disposal in the kitchen or TV noises from the living room, or just conversations, screaming children, barking dogs, etc. Not sure of your house make up, but there are plenty of sources of noise in a house. I work from home twice a week and having a place to go and close the door is very useful when others are around and especially when in meetings where I can have my phone on speaker and also work at the same time. This way I'm not disturbing others either and others can't hear what is being said either unless they stand outside the door and listen in of course....See Moredecoenthusiaste
