Lynn, continued warm thoughts are still being sent your way. It is a process to come to terms with such a deep loss, but it sounds like with the love and support of your family you are on your way.

It's special to experience the spiritual presence of a loved one even though they've passed. It's hard to explain to people, but it's a precious gift. Hold those moments close and let them bring you comfort and strength in the days and weeks to come.

Those special visits will continue per my experience, and real or not they are sweet, comforting, and dear. So glad that your mom continues to be near.

Lynn, I also dreamed about my grandmother the night she died. I rarely remember my dreams. Plus, my grandmother was not ill so she wasn't floating on the top of my subconscious. So, I really believe her spirit visited me. I am glad you and your daughter had similar experiences. Hugs to you.

Those dreams certainly weren't just dreams. Your mother's spirit was with you and your DD. Peace be with you and your family.

As Lana said, they weren't dreams. Did you feel at peace afterwards? Something similar happened to me after my dad passed away and I was immediately at peace.

The comfort in knowing your mother is fine and no longer in pain is hopefully easing the grief, at least a bit. That is the paradox of death: peace for the one who has died versus the intense bear that is grief for that person's survivors.

The night my DGF passed I heard him calling my name. I was sound asleep at the time and hearing him call my name woke me. I strongly felt his presence. In the morning my DGM called me to tell me he died. He was in the hospital but we all expected him to come home. I am so grateful for our last communication.

Linen, and anyone else suffering the same, I'm going to relay something my father - an Episcopal minister - once said to me when a friend of ours was dying.

This was years ago; I was a freshman in h.s. He was the father of my sister's h.s. boyfriend, and our families were very close. He'd come down with yet another bout of cancer, his fourth, I believe. But this last time, I noticed people were behaving differently. A lot of coming and going, hushed voices..it was just different and eerie.

So I went to my father, and I asked him, "Is Chuck going to be okay?" I have taken enormous comfort over the years since from my father's response, which was:

"If you are asking me if he's going to live, the answer is no. But if you really are asking me if he's going to be okay, the answer is yes."

Oh, Tib, yes, that's so true . . . and a lovely thing to hold on to. My mother, in less than 2 years, went from a very athletic, strong, woman much younger than her years, to a crippled shell of that woman who could not even do the most basic things for herself. But, through it all she kept her brilliant mind, her wonderful sense of humor, her kindness and caring for us all. The last to go was her voice and her ability to swallow. This disease, BTW, is called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Anyhoo, a few weeks before she passed, my sister (the RN) was sitting in front of Mom trying to hear what Mom was saying. Sis was very stressed out and concerned for Mom and thought she was trying to tell her something very important. Mom repeated it several times before she broke into a silent belly laugh. Sis put her face right next to Mom's and (finally) heard what she was saying, "I think I may be pregnant." They both laughed hysterically with that one! That was our mother, though, always so thoughtful of everyone's feelings. She wonderfully succeeded in distressing Sis and sending her home with a smile. And gave all of us yet another happy memory of our sweet mom.

Lynn, how is your father doing? I remember his health was very fragile, too, but I may have missed if he has passed away.
