Base "cabinet" support for washer and dryer with counter on top

I would like to have something like this built (the wood part) for our washer and dryer, but I'm not sure the best avenue. My custom kitchen cabinet guys (who use Conestoga) would cost a fortune. I priced out Barker cabinets and they are 2 separate pieces - one for washer and one for dryer - and I prefer one piece.

I'm sure someone could make it easily with plywood, but I worry about what the finish would look like... I'm spoiled with our painted Conestoga doors now!
