Small avocado trees turning entirely brown and dying

Hi,

I live in Luxembourg (where it can easily not be sunny for a couple days in a row). At the moment I have 2 baby avocado trees, all from seeds which we've planted. They are about 8 months old now and have been pruned (a couple times) for indoors - where they spend their entire lives. Earlier in the summer when I moved them into soil they did amazing! Recently and quite quickly, they've been turning completely burn and dying off. Ass seen in the image below! Both of the trees - exactly the same.

They're plotted separately and contain ground coffee on top of the soil. Also, I water them with tap water which I let sit out for more than 24 hours before using. Soil seems to be decently moist (never really dry).

The plants are getting worse and I have no clue what's wrongl
Chlorosis, overwatering, underwatering, too dry of air, salty water, or bad PH levels? Any ideas?
