I am a do it yourself home improver who is on a limited budget. Here is my advise to you. If you looking to cut costs on bags of cement hereâÂÂs what you do if its for big projects. At home improvement stores you can get a torn bag of cement for between $1.00 to 1.52 plus tax a bag, here in Georgia one 14X14 paver goes for $1.97 (walmart) or a 16X16 inch paver is $3.97 per paver which can be very expensive if your needing a lot of pavers, were as if you make them yourself you would be paying per paver from an 80lb bag of cement around .50 cents a paver. again you would have to go to your home improvement store and ask the manager for torn bags of cement that has been processed and reduced, do not go through the clerks for they will give you the run around as to who they want to purchase the torn bags of cement, this cuts home improvement costs a lot and since I am a most of all do it yourselfer, I was able to go to my home improvement store pick up ten ripped or torn bags of cement for 1.52 each to fix the flashing by my foundation of my home and my driveway this is a savings of $2.45 cents per bag. Out of the rest of the bags I picked up for this amount I also will be making my own pavers and putting up a small retaining wall to keep the dogs in the yard next to the fence were they are digging. Should I need more bags of cement all I have to do is go back and purchase more damaged bags of cement.

Hello twochicklets, I really like your pool and particularly your deck. We were initially considering "gold" travertine, but it seems very "busy". We saw the "ivory" travertine in a store, today, and really liked it. It looks really nice in your pictures, too. A few questions: - Did you seal the pavers or is it wet in the pictures? If it is wet, what does it look like when it is dry? Do you have a picture posted on this forum of the deck when it is dry? - Is your coping the same color as the pavers? - What size are the coping pieces? Thanks.

We just went through this as well (doing a tile overlay on concrete). We were offered a beige travertine which is between a walnut and ivory. Ultimately we went away from walnut due (what we thought) was a pinkish tone we wanted to avoid and we wanted to something to contrast the pool coping which is chocolade, a very light brown similar to walnut. I've included some pictures below. We are going to seal the tile, so I used a wet cloth on them just before the pictures were taken. Beige on the left and walnut on the far end (I rotated this image, but not rotated right here on the web page) Same scene here. Walnut on the left and beige on the right. Chocolade coping at the top left. Please ignore the other one (scabas I think?) We had to order two large ivory caps for the columns, because beige did not come that big. Here is Ivory (left), beige tile, and the chocolade pool coping in the foreground. Again all wet wiped before the pic.

Wonderful! It's amazing just how many varieties are out there, depending of course on your location and what materials are suitable for pool decking. The decking really does drive so much of the pool design. I went to several stores and brought home samples (if possible) or took photos. It was definitely worth the extra effort. And remember, the total cost to install will be price per sq foot plus the labor and extra materials required. So sometimes price per sq ft might be more expensive but easier to install than another material so the total cost varies. And you can decide whether to "go big" or choose more expensive and confine deck to a smaller area. Houzz offers tons of photos.
