I bought one of those all in one units from Lowes but later returned it. I had to pick through the ones on the shelf to find the one that was least scratched. The ABS plastic ones are not the same quality as the cast acrylic or fibreglass ones you see. I figured if it was all scratched up now, who knows how it would look after we start using it. The cabinet is also very small for the space I had set aside for and made cheaply. Plus the quality of the faucet didn't seem like it would hold up in the long run. There was very little reviews either good or bad so I figured it wasn't such a great value afterall otherwise someone would have posted at least one good review. You pay for what you get and with all the work I was doing to get my laundry room set up, the last thing I wanted was an all in one that would need replacing at some point, but who knows? I went with a stainless steel utility sink, 20x20 inch and 10 inch deep and couldn't be happier. Picked up a Delta kitchen faucet for it and overall am pleased with the look and ease of maintenance. These days you don't need such a huge sink as the new washers that are HE compliant don't need to empty tons of water(mine drains to a stacked pipe). Now I can use that sink for just about anything, whereas I never felt comfortable about soaking clothes in something where old paint was staining my cheap plastic laundry tub. Oh yes, the sink is housed in a bigger cabinet and taller to meet up with the height of the washer/dryer and I had the sink slightly offset in the laminate countertop so I could get a small area for a side counter. Very happy I went with a SS sink.

I wouldn't want to be without my laundry sink. I use it for all sorts of things such as hand washing oven racks, cookie racks & sheets, large vases or anything too big for the dishwasher and kitchen sink. Hand washables, "dirty work" such as repotting plants or making hanging baskets of flowers; cutting greens & flowers for arrangements. For big holiday turkeys, I line a five gallon bucket with foil , fill it with water & seasonings and add the frozen turkey the night before it is to be roasted. I put something heavy on top of the turkey to make sure it stays submerged. The next day I drain, dry & season the turkey and pop it in the oven for the most tender, moist yet nicely browned turkey ever. I have washable furnace filters that get washed in the laundry sink too. Ofcourse, there's always paint brushes, etc as well. Oh, I also use it to soak plants that have dried out too much.

Sink if you can, trash can, a line or rod to hang clothes. a folding area (counter or a table) if you have room. shelves or cabinets for products. good bright lighting helps. my area is in a basement and is not as nice as a main floor room but I have a cabinet, a bright light over my work area, lines to hang clothes, and a trash can next to the dryer. I have a small island counter that a builder put a very small dent in the top of at a friends house that going to put legs on and use for a folding table. I got that for free and am going to make use of it instead of it going to the trash.

Yes! So happy that we went with this option. The ergonomics are so much better (no more hunching over washing out paint rollers and trays!), it looks so much nicer and cleaner, and it is so functional for soaking dirty clothes! I searched long and hard for something both big enough and economical enough for my smallish laundry reno. I thought at first I wanted a larger sink and thought I wanted it pretty deep, but am so happy with my 20x20x8d overmount. More than enough room to soak father-son white baseball pants in oxyclean!
