I don't find mine limp from mascara. I have long but rather thin lashes anyway so it really doesn't do me much good to curl them so I gave up doing that a long time ago. I use Smokey Eye Mascara by Bobbi Brown. A long time ago I used Lancôme Definicils and didn't really have a reason to quit using it except I transitioned over to almost everything Bobbi so went with her mascara for convenience & liked it.

I have never noticed limp lashes. I have very skimpy lashes (I think), I'm using the Cover Girl Remarkable mascara in the purple tube. It's not waterproof but it doesn't come off easily either. Someone here recommended it a while back and I really like it a lot.

I use Clinique lash power mascara. It isn't waterproof (I hate waterproof mascara), but it doesn't run when it gets wet. It sort of pulls off in long tubes. I discovered it years ago and won't use anything else.

I don't own a curler, never have, never will. I don't use waterproof mascara because it seems impossible to remove and makes lashes way too stiff. My non wp mascara doesn't make my lashes limp at all. It adds volume, length, and gives them body. I could never understand why people wore waterproof mascara.

The mascara I'm currently using is a sample from Clinique that came in a gift with purchase. I'll have to check if it's the lash power or something else. I don't think I've ever bought a department store mascara. Foundations, blushes and facepowers, definitely department store...Like Sheisback, I usually will do Cover Girl Lash Blast or a Loreal mascara. I have a Shiseido curler...I had replace my last curler when I noticed a chunk of my lashers were missing...yikes!!

I use the tried and true, and constantly recommended by makeup artists & models, Maybeline Great Lash Mascara, waterproof.

Holly, two summers ago after I ran out of my waterproof mascara so I bought the regular. It was summer and I had been outside at a gathering. Thank God it was with people who loved me. lol. A friend told me to go look at my eye's. OMG, the sweat just made the mascara drip off me!

Waterproof is good if your eye's tear up due to allergies, sweat, or if your face gets wet, and it's long lasting.

I use two light layers after curling my lashes, which is a must IMO to make the eyes prettier.

Take a picture of yourself with your eye's made up sans curler, then a picture with a curler. Unless your lashes go up naturally. I only started curling them about 15 years ago when I noticed in pictures it looked like I didn't have lashes. :)

I cannot relate on "limp" factor. My lashes are normally curly, though.. so.. maybe that is the difference?

I changed to tubing mascaras a year or so ago. I won't go back, as the mascara essentially just falls off in the shower/when exposed to water. It doesn't leave a mess on your face like normal mascaras do.

Maybeline Great Lash non waterproof comes off very easily. Not all regular mascaras come off like that. The CG Remarkable is not like that at all, I'd say it's water resistant.

I also like Clinique's Lash Power mascara. It is a "tubing" mascara, which is the only type that I'll use. Otherwise I get terrible raccoon eyes. I also use L'Oreal Beauty Tubes mascara.

I use Trish McEvoy's tubing mascara. Everything runs on my eyes- raccoon city. But, McEvoy liner and mascara stay on all day without running.

I had to google tubing mascara LOL. I don't care for waterproof mascara.

Tubes, huh? Definitely will try. My poor wimpy lashes need all the help they can get.

Another who wasn't familiar with tubing mascaras. I love Clinique's Lash Power brush and think that would work well for even application and to avoid clumping; going to check it out!

I tried a drugstore version of tube mascara and am happy with it. It did not dry out and make my lashes clump together a couple of weeks after opening like other mascaras always seem to. It stays put nicely but comes off with warm water. Mine is Loreal double extend. I am happy with it and will probably just repurchase, though I have always liked cinque so maybe I will try theirs.

I really need to stay off these makeup topics. I just had a fun online shopping spree. Shee, I ordered the L'Oreal mascara you recommended, it had fantastic ratings. Everything I ordered had 4+ Star reviews by at least a 100 people.

Also ordered are a set of makeup brushes, eyebrow wax pencil, 3 in 1 pencil sharpener, OPI nail polish (my fave), and an eyeshadow pallet.

Chanel will be my go-to lipstick.

I do have a question for those of you who only buy dept. store makeup. Why? There are some products I have to buy from dept. stores, but I have no problem with drugstore makeup.

It's been proven that most makeup from drugstores are just as good, and some are actually better than department stores. Makeup only lasts a short time, why throw away hundreds of dollars?

Yesterday I threw away old/expired makeup, and I was amazed at how much money went in the trash. lol.

I'm not trying to start a makeup war, I'm just curious why some will only buy makeup from department stores.

I used to be really INTO cosmetics back in the day. Now it's not really that big of a deal, I normally just buy drug store cosmetics. But back in the day when I was into it, I would try expensive cosmetics but was normally disappointed and didn't find them to be any better. I did just buy an MUFE cosmetics liner pencil because I'd bought so many drug store ones that were a bust. I do like this but I really REALLY LOVED my Rimmel liner that is discontinued that I needed a replacement for. Another product that I've used for years in the Merle Norman loose translucent powder...this is another item I'm going to have to find a replacement for or get them to mail it to me as we don't have MN close by, can't order on line for some reason.

FYI to anyone using and liking the Clinique's Lash Power, their saleswoman told me this morning that it is being discontinued; she had none in stock.

@Oakley...for me and department store make up, it comes down to being able to go in and try or sample the make up/foundation before buying and if you aren't completely happy with your purchase, you can return it. If I could find a drugstore foundation that I like as much as department store make up, I'd use it in a heartbeat. I mean, who doesn't want to save money. I think you can return make up at Wal Mart, I guess it would be just a little more work buying and returning until you find what works.

Always, I've been pretty lucky at finding foundation, etc., just by looking at the color, but lipstick is a different matter. That's the one product I should sample before I buy.

One of the best makeup line's is Avon. It's been a few years since I ordered some online but I was always happy with the products.

I just bought the l'oreal tube mascara and tried it on one eye just to see...it did seem to make my lashes look better and it did wash off easily without smearing or smudging. But it was weird seeing the "spider" of lashes in the sink going down the drain. I'm going to need to try it again before I decide. But I may recommend it to GF whose DD is getting married. She's very sensitive, highly allergic and wants to wear eye make up but has had difficulty with others. This one seals enough that it may not be an issue.

OMG don't get me started on lipsticks...A. I don't seem to be able to find colors that work these days and B. I have yet to find a lipstick that doesn't dry the heck out of my lips. I've been trying to go lighter in lip color and I think because my lips naturally have a lot of color it messes with the light lip colors. Does that make sense?

Went to Clinique yesterday and they said it is likely the feathering lashpower that is being discont'd. This was recently introduced and didn't sell well. They said Lashpower is their biggest seller and they can't see it being discont'd. Whew!

I tried the tubing again. My take is I'll use it for fancy occasions, but not for everyday. It did seem to make my lashes longer and more prominent, it did last all day, including through a nap, with no smearing. However, it does seem to be heavy on my eyelashes and thus a tad uncomfortable...I found myself seeing the edge of my lashes while I was reading and I found that annoying. I'm also still skeeved out by the black spiders that result when washing them off. That's just weird.

I have never had a hard time finding a lipstick color-- but have struggled with foundation and a little less so blush. I know the lip colors that work for me-- and have been wearing the same range of colors since I was a teen.

Two lipsticks that are especially moist/non-drying for me are Loreal color riche and Chanel coco shine. I will tell you right up front that the coco shine is not a long lasting formula but the other chanel coco formulas have gotten great reports about lasting all day. Also, they just came out with a new line, a Stylo stick lipstick that my salesperson says has both lip treatment and color. It's a new line and the colors are limited-- none of them work for me but they may very well work for you.

If you like a little shine, I like chanel glossimers too. Not all of the colors are crazy shiny (though some are). I wouldn't say my lips have a lot of pigment so my colors won't likely work for you but I wear giggle and sweet beige which are more creamy than shiny.. but then I also love twinkle which is very shiny.

I also wear burt's bees shimmer sticks-- I wear a very light one (champagne) but there are a number of darker colors. Love how they make my lips feel!

I found a new mascara that I really like. I don't think that it's a true "tubing" mascara, but I've used it for a few days, and it absolutely doesn't smudge or flake, and washes off as easily as the tubing types.

It's Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Mascara

Right now I'm using a sample I ordered directly from the Elizabeth Mott site, but I've just ordered the full size from Amazon.

Annie, I've tried a number of tubing mascaras, and some of them seem to be a bit heavier than others. The Clinique Lashpower and this Elizabeth Mott one are much lighter feeling than the L'Oreal Beauty Tubes. Probably because the Beauty Tubes are a two step product. My only complaint with the Lashpower is that the tube seems to dry out fairly quickly.

terriks, I agree about the lash power drying out quickly. Let us know if the Elizabeth Mott is any better in that respect.

Clinique High Impact mascara.

Annie -- I agree with Terriks, I've tried a couple different tubing mascaras, and they were fairly different. One was very lightweight, one is much heavier, etc. Same is true for normal mascara.... However, they all have eye spiders that fall off your face. :)

Speaking of different tubing mascaras.... the lightweight brand I tried was Kevin Aucoin. The current brand I have is Cargo... the Kevin Aucoin one washes off perfectly clean. The Cargo brand has about a 2% smudge factor (meaning, I need to use eye wipes to get the remaining mascara off around my eyes.) Does anyone recommend a brand that goes on thick, but has 0% smudge factor?

The L'oreal brand I bought didn't smudge at all.

I agree, the L'Oreal leaves no trace. Same with the Clinique Lashpower, but it's more lightweight.

I googled the Loreal --- I just see the kind (Double Extend Beauty Tubes) where you apply two different parts? If so, that is way too much work for me. Is there a different kind by Loreal or is that it?

That's the one lolauren. Though I've found that it's not necessary to do the first step. When I'm in a hurry, I skip it. It just adds a bit of volume.

Thanks Terri - I just sent a request for a sample of that. I'm another who does not want an added step, so will try the Elizabeth Mott.

No added steps for me either. I think I will get one of the Estée Lauder tube mascaras.

I hope I get my L'Oreal today. Two steps shouldn't take up more than 15 seconds, so I really don't mind. I don't want the lashes to be all that noticeable so I'll go light. Or heavy and take a selfie for you. ;)

The thing with the 2 steps is you don't need to leave drying time in between. So it doesn't really take longer than careful application of regular mascara.

Has anyone tried the Younique mascara? I did but didn't think it was worth it. I ended up giving it to my daughter. It did make your lashes look long/thich and I'm sure with layering you could get super long spider lashes. I did a side by side comparison with my regular Lash Blast (orange tube) and both looked the same to me.

I have to say that I'm loving the Elizabeth Mott mascara!

It goes on nicely with no clumps, doesn't smudge or flake and removes as easily and cleanly as the tubing mascaras.

My daughter gave me some Younique for Christmas last year. You can get a nice effect with it, but it's so many steps for every day wear. And you can get little flakes on your cheeks throughout the day.

My favorite mascara is Too Faced "Better than Sex"! Absolutely love it. This is coming from a mascara junkie! I also like Benefit's "They're Real". I've tried numerous ones and keep going back to these two.
