Comments (54)I print out recipes from on line all the time, but any drop of water will make the ink from the inkjet run and make a total mess of the recipe. So then it dawned on me. I have a clear plastic clipboard from staples. I clip the recipe wrong side down on the clipboard. Then I flip it over. I can read the recipe through the clear plastic, the plastic protects the paper and is easy to clean, and the clipper part holds the recipe up at an angle so it's easier to read. I love it when things work out like that!...See Moregadget for bakers...or not
Comments (26)Bumblebeez, I don't care that much about the corners, but it is easier to trim the edges and make those slightly smaller than to scrub with multiple brushes to try to get the crumbs out of the corners of the last pan I had. I think Chicago Metallic and Calphalon both have sharp corners. But beware pleated metal in the corners. Corners are one thing, but those are a royal pain in the tail feathers (as my mom would say)....See MoreWhat are your favorite utensils/gadget in the kitchen?
Comments (63)My Mother was at a flea market one day and she happened to see one of those pie crimpers on a table with old metal working tools...She picked it up and was looking at it and the man who had the both says to her,,,"If you can tell me what that is used for, I'll give it to you". Mother told him it was a pie trimmer and to show him she borrowed a pie pan off a both next to his and demonstrated how it works...When the guy saw her using it he began laughing like crazy and he says..."Lady, it's yours,,I have had that with metal working tools for nearly a year and you would never guess some of the silly things ppl have told me it does."...See MoreTwo New Gadgets For Me
Comments (15)How does the air fryer work? I have a Cool Daddy deep fryer, and I use it for making tempura, hush puppies, empanadas, etc. Will the air fryer work for those? Last night I used a new gadget that I bought recently and had forgotten about - it is a bamboo wok spatula, and it did a great job on the stir-fry I made using leftover bean noodles (from Kevin's lunch) and some leftover rice pilaf. I added a large amount of fresh ginger plus garlic, onion, and zucchini to the mix, plus three eggs at the end, which I mixed with my Habanero chili sauce. The bamboo spatula did a great job of scraping up everything from the wok, and therefore nothing got burned or overcooked. I had read a review that said these spatulas were not necessary, but I very much disagree with that review and ignored it anyway when I bought the spatula....See More- 10 years ago
