Hey Cajun, If you keep doin' your perfect prep, & use a TOP-NOTCH 100% Acrylic-Latex, you'll have some of the best/durable trim in town! * Even in the last 5 yrs., Latexes have improved incrementally...over already very good product. * The best Latexes now, IMO, have made 99% of Oils obsolete. * You may also want to check out Cabinet-Coat by Insl-X; or the brand-new Cabinet & Trim paint at ACE stores. * These paints level exceptionally well, are tough, & very washable. This ACE Cabinet-paint is 50-state VOC-legal right out of the gate. Because of this ACE is dropping all of their interior Oils...they're now obsolete. * As always, use the best tools you can afford! Sooooo...No Worries about Latex-yellowing. Rock-on with what you're doin'! Michael has said it in the past too...there's no legitemate reason for Interior Oils anymore. Faron

If it yellowed literally within days (under a week) then it was not the "oil paints yellow over time" issue, but something else. Was the new wood primed with the right primer? I painted my kitchen soffit trims with Ben Moore Dulamel (or Satin Impervo; oil) in 2006 and the ceiling an eggshell latex both mixed in the exact same color, and the oil has not yet yellowed to the point you could see a difference in a side-by-side comparison, and it's 8 years in to my "test". Up at the ceiling line it never sees direct sun to help keep it lighter (UV light negates the yellowing process) So within days? seriously, that is some other deal going on. Casey

I don't think it is worth it to strip the paint in your entire house just so that you can convert back to oil. Stripping paint is a very labor intensive and messy job. Paint will chip off in high traffic areas with latex and oil based paints. You should remove what is loose/not ahdered by scraping and sanding and then repaint with a 100 percent acrylic paint. Many DIY painters do not sand well enough and that is why the paint may not be adhered in some areas. You really want every inch of the trim to be very dull and clean before applying any paint to it.

i used benjamin moore waterborne impervo on my kitchen cabinets. so far, its holding up after 6 months. honestly, alot of the decision to use a latex was due to the fact that i painted them myself and really did not want to deal with oil paint. they did come out great and i love them. i do have benjamin moore oil based on the rest of my cabinets in my house. they were painted 14 years ago by painters. they have a better finish in my opinion, and i don't notice any yellowing. the benjamin moore waterborne impervo is a bit difficult to work with at first. its very thick and creamy. not at all like any other latex, but not like oil either. you have to get a 'feel' for it. it does wipe well and has resisted chipping so far. my husband and son are like two bulls in a china closet. my kitchen has already endured alot of roughness in its young six months. i have to say that my white cabinets still are perfect after a good cleaning when needed. the impervo waterborne is supposed to be as good and durable as the oil impervo. i guess i will have to wait and find out.
