Comments (6)Here are the varieties I've has success with storing and getting improving flavor: Katherine, not fully ripe yet, fruit improving in flavor Oliver: perfect right now, won't last past jan Apricot: hard as a rock, but about 3 days out of the cooler and they soften and taste heavenly Berner rosen not ready Jonagold done, the last ones were intensely flavored around thanksgiving Hauer pippin just starting to ripen Waltana no mas, they were perfect Winter Winesap excellent, starting to ripen My jewell intense banana aroma Pomme grise no good anymore too dry but they didn't shrivel Winter gravenstein wow didn't think it was possible to have a winter version of this delicious apple Belle de boscoop oh man deliciouness itself Pink lady don't think many people know how aromatic and sweet this one gets in conventional storage...See Moreipm methods safe for butterflies?
Comments (1)The ants may very well be trying to keep the earwig population down, rather than harm your plants. If you allow the garden to dry somewhat, the earwig population will decrease. Comments (30)for the very first time,I was able to get this Honeycrisp you all talk about...really good,and lovely when done "baked" something no one mentioned that I used to pick years ago where I used to live-Wolf River Apples...a very very old type which kept well,made lovely pies and pie filler..not the greatest to eat just out of your hand...and it was also a very LARGE apple....bigger than a regulation baseball..waaay bigger...See Morebrandon_the_random
