Saw a TV commercial for a certain air brush makeup, maybe you have seen it? Introductory offer of $19.00, airbrush comes with makeup, ad looks very compelling.

So I ordered it online, then got the conformation email - well, the $19 airbrush has 5 payments of $59.99 that come later! Plus, they have my credit card number so they want to send regular makeup deliveries, etc.

I went back to the website to see if these extra charges were on there, yes, in very small print, there it is. So I called them today - had some difficulty in getting hold of a live operator, but she said they would cancel the shipment, the charges have already been taken out of my checking account - hope this cancellation is for real.

There's one born every minute and I guess this was my minute. The product starts with "Lumin" and ends with "esse", in case you want to steer clear.

Here is lesson #1, never ever use a debit card. A credit card does not take the money out of your account. Lesson #2, never give a credit/debit card to anyone who will use it for future purchases. Which means never buy anything from TV ads. Hope the company honors your cancellation.

Beverly Hills, I have always used a credit card, and have run into the same problem even without any listing in small print that could warn one of future charges. Can happen especially with "samples" of the product. My help came from my credit card company who declared the charges false and removed them from my billing.

Donnabaskets, In 1983 I decided to grow collards on a larger scale, enough for a few of my friends and myself to have a big mess for turkey day and Christmas. Wellllllllllllllll we had a little party and everyone took home enough collards for there familys turkey day, every one including myself thought they were the best collards ever. The darnest thing tho 3-4 weeks later every plant started growing the strangest growth out of the center, Yep I had 60 heads of broc to eat and give away. All of the above. Ditto, ditto, ditto - Sometimes I feel like people on this board are reading my mind... 2009 season - outstanding peony poppies 2010 season - unhappy, rapid bloom to demise poppies. I think I had one week that they looked stunning. Fungus on rudbeckia: The goldstrums are fine but the ones with the softer, fuzzier leaves that I love - ynaked almost all of them today. Nasties - If they could, they'd get up and walk themselves to the shade of a tree. I wanted to lots of it in fronts of beads this year too. I direct planted, they sprouted fine and did great till we hit this dry/hot spell. We had our first rain in a month here today and boy did they look happy. (I have irrigation but these guys seem to always prefer rain falling formt he sky.

I have a couple questions about this and I'm hoping someone will see them here so I don't have to start another thread about this. My Musa Bajoo is one year old and probably about six feet tall. I have read about putting mulch around it, etc. I tried that last year and it turned to mush. (A different plant.) But, I didn't put a tarp over it, so maybe that's why. Anyway, I'm thinking now maybe I'll dig this one up. Everyone seems to say they're easy to get up. But, what do I do with it? Be specific. haha. Plant it in a container with some potting soil? Store it in my outside shed where it is cold? Put it in the basement and forget about it? (Including no water?) Put it in my sunroom where it is very chilly in the winter (about 40 degrees) and treat it like a houseplant? Thanks for any info on this option! Here is a link that might be useful:

I don't really want to kill the grass outside the bed. I guess if it is a problem I'll just solarize it once a year in the spring; since zoysia is slow to spread more than a few inches. Or I could just add a barrier to the one edge of the beds that isn't more than 3 inches below the soil line.

I never order from the TV because I don't want to give out any card numbers..but I have bought things I've seen on TV from Bed Bath & Beyond, they are good about returns..they don't have everything you see on TV though.

Happy ending to this story - they gave me a refund and did not put anymore charges on the card. However, I have seen their infomercials since then and I still think they are less than honest about those hidden charges.

Beverly Hills...I was erroneously charged $99 by Amazon for Amazon Prime and emailed them promptly. They answered immediately with polite apology and reimbursed my account at once. I do like Amazon and order from them frequently but know there are many others out there who are "less than honest" about hidden charges. Some people I know who seriously want a certain sample will order and then have their card number changed at once. Seems a lot of bother but does miss future large charges. Glad you experienced a happy ending.
