I love calamondins as well. I lost a lot of leaves in my tree due to lack of water, I went aways for 2 weeks and the person that was supposed to water them just forgot...i lost like 10% of the foliage.

What I can tell you is that it looks like that tree was well fed and was thriving in a most perfect environment before you took it home..It was FULL and green and loved it cares before it was sold to the public...It would need the very same environment to hold all it's leaves and fruit and yet it's impossible to mimic...So you can expect much leaf drop and a complete change it the looks of your tree before it gets use to what your card is...

It should come back looking very nice as long as you give it lots of light, good fertilizer and watch your watering....Once you can put it outside, even better, that is once temps are very consistent above the low 50's by night and under 95 by day..Probably about the middle of May depending on your growing zone..At least, that is how long I have to wait for my trees to grow to their full potential)

I don't know if this is scientific, but all the citrus I got came with fruit on it. Frankly, I think they give it that way to make it look attractive. Personally, I think fruiting trees have to expend a lot of energy into maintaining fruit and growing them. Thus, they react even more adversely to change in environment.

Initially, I used to keep the fruit on the tree while the leaves shed and no leaves would come out for weeks. Then I figured out that removing the fruit allows the plant to adapt quicker and put out new leaves. Maybe more knowledgeable folk here can tell you better, but in my experience you should get rid of the fruit.

Hello, thank you so much for all your advice. I really do appreciate it. I am so worried of my Calamondin tree. Yes, i think it is a huge change of environment. Vienna has a crazy weather, it changes every 30 min. And my apartment is on the 6th floor and unfortunately, I do not have a terrace. So I put my calamondin beside my window where most of the sun comming in but it is from North east. I hope she will be fine. I already bought a fertilizer for Citrus and I hope she will be fine. I took all the fruits since they are gone unhealthy and yellow. I hope soon when warm weather comes, she will be much happier. I am happy that the leaves did not fall as much when i cut off all the fruits.

Tushaar, you could be right, they spend a lot of energy keeping the fruits. I think it will give my tree a little rest and develop itself here in the environment. But I planted two of its seeds and it have grown very well and happy. I hope that it will be more used to my environment. Thank you once again for all your advice it was such a big help.

No worries. I can attest to the weather changes in Vienna, stayed there for a couple of weeks in January this year.

Let the leaves drop naturally if they do, the tree will eventually achieve equilibrium based on the light/heat available vs the foliage it can support.

Please water lightly and do not fertilize much. The soil likely has enough to support fresh foliage when the conditions are right. At the moment, your worry should be wet soil, which will definitely kill it. Err on the side of less water. I usually take a long pointed object (anything - screwdriver, stick), and displace a small bit of soil two inches deep. If it's wet, I hold off on watering.

Are there different types of calamondins? Aside from the variegated? My calamondins fruit are way tinier than these look.
