Iris Alphabet? I'll start with A
Comments (10)I'm a sucker for the rimmed apricot/peach ones. And I don't have one! These pics are 10 years old. Hopefully there are new users of the forums who've not seen them. I shot for accurate color, not beauty, as in those days there were horrendous, inaccurately-colored, iris pictures online. One my monitor the color looks close to spot on. Abiqua Falls - TB, Schreiner'03, AM'07, gorgeous periwinkle! Schreiner's does the "blues" the best. Affaire - TB, Blyth'93, unusual new color combo of the time which unfortunately always streaked here. Affirmation - TB, Corlew'88, still questing for the perfect pastel yellow. After The Dawn - TB, Ernst'95, poor substance. Afternoon Delight again - TB, Ernst'83, AM'93, showing a triple socket and the fade. Color is off. Amour - TB, Corlew'82, I would love to find this one again, something about it . Apollodorus - TB, Tompkins'89, showy, soft orange and soft rosy maroon. Arc de Triomphe - TB, Kerr'95. Ask Alma - IB, Lankow'87, SASS Medal'94. Autumn Wings - TB, Ernst'89, rather pretty, I like those big veined hafts....See MoreIris Alphabet - I

Comments (13)I have a few crocus up (what's left after the squirrels and chipmunks dine on them) and hellebores. The green bits in the background are daffs and frittilaria. A few muscari in a back bed are starting to show up as well. I was surprised how early these were, but I am so pleased to see them :) We planted ~600 bulbs last fall (muscari, daffodils, fritillaria, allium, crocosmia, anemone and lily of the valley pips), so I'm waiting for the big pay-off!...See MoreIris Alphabet - L
Comments (8)Nice ones BloomBuddie. Here are some older tall beardeds. again, La Scala - Keppel, AM'12 Lace Artistry - Aitkins, HM'90 I love this peach-pink, in my top 5 fav pinks Lady Fire - Gibson'92, plicata Lady Friend - Ghio, AM'85 still a great garnet colored classic, difficult to find good combo color. Lasting Romance- Aitken'99 Legends of Fall - Sutton'99 Lemon Mist - Rudolph, AM'75 vigorous grower, very pastel Let's Dance - Nelson. HM'88 I thought this was the ugliest iris I'd ever seen. Now I love it. Different look everyday. Liason - Ghio, HM'88 much much nicer in person, standards are an ecru-like color and fall edge tinted lav. Lingering Love - Meek'86 This is one that appears pinker in sunlight....See MoreUser
