Anyone started Iris from seed?
Comments (26)You do seem to have a nice surprise there :) I couldn't say why...if these are i. ensata, they shouldn't really germinate any differently than other iris and not in their pod - before a warm moist, cold moist, followed by warm moist sowing! Your seeds are germinating and need to be sown. Don't completely cover those newly emerging green shoots, and if you can't tell which end is up on all of them, laying them on their sides for them to find their own way is safe. You'll need to keep your flat moist (not soggy) so depending on your own local weather, you'll have to decide whether carport or in the open. I can't tell you which iris from your foliage picture but if you posted it on the Name that Plant forum, someone there might be able to. And congratulations on your seedlings! Comments (13)'Mariposa Skies', 'Murrah Memorial' and 'Mulberry Rose' look wonderful. Here are a few. Magharee - Blyth'86, love the colors in this iris and a group looks great. Mam Zelle - Sutton'02, attractive Margarita - Schreiner, AM'74, disappointing to me. Margarita again Maroon Doubloon - Scott'02, notice the color change. Mary Frances - Gaulter, Dykes Medal'79, my absolute favorite, breathtakingly beautiful in person. Master Plan - Keppel, HM'97, color is accurate on my monitor (rosy with lavender influence). Merlot - Schreiner, AM'03, have seen better 'reds'. Moon Over Morro - Scott'00, very pretty. Mr Three Wiggle - de la Motte'05...See MoreIris bloom starts out wilted

Comments (58)plllog -- yep, reset the bookmark, and it seems to be working. In the olden days, you know, last week, I only signed in when I wanted to post (laughable, I know, like I'm actually privatizing my forum trail and someone cares) and I could just use That Home Site Forums - Gardenweb menu to look at Kitchens, Cooking, etc. If I want my topics now, I have to sign in; otherwise, I'm sent to the Garden Forum. It makes sense signing-in, I get it, but I just need to grumble a bit. And I'll whisper: this change and not knowing what the end of net neutrality is actually going to mean, makes me want to grumble, grumble, grumble a bit more:) On a positive note: I thought I was too old to learn new tricks; yet, a new talent that I've acquired is filtering out the peripheral, intrusive, embedded nonsense on the sides, top and bottom of my screen/phone. Advertisers think I see their stuff, but I don't:0) CathyinSWPA...See Moreredwolfdoc_z5
