Banana leaf???
Comments (0)I saw some comfortable dining chairs at World Market. The seat and back are made of banana leaf woven over a wood frame. How durable is banana leaf? Is it stain resistant? Thanks!...See MoreIdentify Banana Species and Help with Harvesting
Comments (4)They do not look ready to cut yet to me. As eric says, keep them watered well & those fruits should start filling out. I have Mysore bananas & what I do is wait until they stop getting bigger & start to lighten. Once 1 or 2 start to get yellow streaks, I cut the entire stalk & bring it inside, so critters don't get into it. I let the sap drain for about 48 hours before cutting the fruits off the stalk. Mine break easily off their stems when ripe, which hastens spoilage, so I cut them apart while still firm to prevent that. And watch out for that sap! It will stain everything it comes in contact with permanently! I put the cut stalk & the cut fruits on newspaper to prevent surface stains....See MoreThe Year-to-Year progression of "Fragrant Alley"
Comments (27)Babka, yes, when they are all in bloom, and they bloom very reliably, all at once in August, I can easily smell the blossoms when I'm standing near the bed. Annette, the ones with the strongest fragrance are Guacamole, Fried Bananas, Stained Glass, Cathedral Windows, Avocado, Fragrant Bouquet...It seems that most of the hostas that are direct descendants of Fragrant Bouquet are the ones with the best fragrance. That being said, I don't have a plantaginea in my garden, which is the species plant where all the fragrant hostas have originated. Those are the ones with the strongest fragrance, and have, by far, the largest flowers. My personal favorites are Guacamole and Cathedral Windows, although I love almost all of them : )...See MoreTide Sport Febreze Active Fresh HE Turbo
Comments (40)Eh, not to start an argument (I've washed on both Warm and Cold with good results, so no real stake in this game), but I don't really buy into the "if it touches your body it should handle hot water" claim. Using that logic you should be able to launder silk in hot water because it can withstand being worn, ironing and even steam, but we all know that that's a terrible idea. Brief partial contact is very different from extended submersion. Also, one thing that I find easier with Cold is being able to wash medium and dark athletic gear together with no fear of bleeding. Warm had caused a couple of my orange and fuchsia garments to bleed, so I was separating lights, darks and mediums. Now I just wash whites and very lights separately, and all the other spandex goes in together. Basically at this point my approach is "if it works well at 86F, why bother with 105F"....See MoreErrant_gw
