Hi guys, After reading your posts, I believe it to be a combination of things. The two biggest are overpotting and the soil being too wet. I popped it out of it's pot and saw only a couple teensie rooots peeking through at the bottom, so that's one. And whenever I go to water it seems as though the soil is always still moist. The plant has not come back and I'm not sure at this late date repotting will be helpful. Might just make it permanently croak. I did just recently get some more moisture back into the tank, although the fan is still off. Now that I think about it, the plant was healthiest when I had the gravel trays wet and the fan going in the terrarium. Usually the humidity in there would get to around 75-80... but I agree, I think it could come out of there and my future nepenthes could go it in instead. (Current ones are doing fine, btw - I have no problem there! lol) So, I may have to find someone with a cutting or buy a new plant since I'm not positive this one will make it. New growth has stopped and only two leaves are unfurled. The rest are curled up and almost totally brown now. Should I bother ropotting? If I had some more time, I'd post a pic. Maybe when I get back from errands later today. Thanks everyone for your help! (By the way, I did move it a few inches further away from the bulbs, but it never gets very warm in there.)

Hi Esther, Not sure what's going on w/ this but I somewhat agree w/ Toni on this, these plants can be tricky to grow. Your 1st comment abt crisp leaves, curved downward sounds fine; I don't see a problem there. They definitely don't want direct sun or strong light & they do require a fair amount of humidity. I have only succeeded w/ them in 2 distinct settings, both w/ high humidity. One was the bathroom window, next to the shower, they got bright indirect light & lots of humidity from the shower. The other was in a terrarium (just a glass globe), which helped retain much humidity. Also made a terrarium as a housewarming gift, 2 yrs. later it's still going strong. Generally speaking, letting a plant wilt to indicate when it needs water can eventually kill the plant (have lost some Peace Lilies like this) as it causes the plant stress. After a few times, it becomes more & more of a struggle for the plant to come back from it. Wilty, spinach-lookling leaves in a Fittonia are signs of thirst. It'd be best to learn the plant's watering needs if you can, then adhere to that schedule. EA plants can have strange mix that doesn't dry out right. You could change the mix completely (to something 'houseplanty', like equal parts of peat, perlite & vermiculite). You could also take cuttings of the plant & start them over in all new mix. When the plant recovers, they do best when pinched back often & put the pinchings back into the mother plant to keep it full & lush. My home reference book suggest misting these is helpful. I never needed it as I grew it in naturally humid conditions. Pebble trays are an absolute must for this plant. Good luck w/it!

Very very nice I love the pitchers, you have tons of flowers and real good looking pitchers sticking up. Cant wait for mine to get to that, my S. Flava's seem to be recovering quite well, the Judith Hindle is growing but far slower. Then I have a S. Rubra which has developed a deformed pitcher for some reason, Im not sure but it looks like it has been stung, anyhow the other pitchers its forming seem to be 100%. Then my last plant "Cobra hood" is growing outdoors as well in full sun but very very very slowly for some reason. I thought that they where "vigorous" plants that grew quickly. It is with all the other plants in my insulated pot, with a deep water dish (about half the height of the huge pot) and it sits in full sun. Does anyone know if this one has any special requirements. I think that was the coldest and wettest swap I've ever attended -- but it was as much fun as any I've been to! Big ups to the organizers -- excellent job! I think the "side trades" table was particularly inspired -- it saved a lot of time running around looking for a lot of people you'd never actually met, while still giving you the *option* of running around and looking for people if you wanted to! Wonderful plants, wonderful people, and would whoever made that lovely red apple dish give me the recipe? If you didn't get any, they were thick apple rings, maybe 1/2 or so; bright red, and sweet. But not sticky, syrupy sweet, just straight up apple taste. I thought they were going to be the standard 'apples in syrup with cinnamon red hots' but they were fantastic! Thanks all for a lovely time - now, who's going to plant these things for me?
