I think the gazebo is too bulky for your space, and I think it would be difficult to move, assuming you could get it home in one piece. How would you transport it, if the roof has to be left in one piece? A warning about the gazebos from Target: we bought one a few years ago and it fell apart within months. The metal structure bent in the wind, and the fabric shredded at the seams. It was a waste of nearly $200, and it was a real bugger to assemble. Of course, YMMV depending on which one you buy. I thought it was "ironic" that the instructions for that gazebo said that it was "not to be used outdoors." I swear! Like I'm supposed to put it in my dining room. ! Anyway, have you thought about a shade sail? That's what I originally wanted for our sunny deck, but DH didn't want anything fastened to our house (we have a custom log home that can't be easily repaired, if one of the logs gets damaged). I'm posting a link to one place that sells shade sails. There are many others. I think Costco may still have them online, too. Good luck whatever you decide. Well in honor of the just past Talk Like A Pirate Day...arrrghh! A bit of a topic highjack now. I have a nautical decorating neat-or-not question. My son goes sailfishing and has been asking if I want to do a mount of one of the fish he's gotten. It's all catch and release, so for those who aren't familiar with how the process works: when caught, very precise measurements are taken of the individual fish. It's then released alive. The mounting company takes those measurements and using realistic moldable material and hand painting makes an exact replica of the fish. That is what gets displayed. I've linked below to a picture of what I"m talking about. FYI the fish in the link is very similar if not identical to what we would get-only difference might be size. I have a nautical theme going in my public areas and I really can't decide if having a mounted sailfish on the living room or foyer wall would be a neat addition to the decor (especially since it would have a personal story) or if it veers to tacky. Any opinions? Here is a link that might be useful: Mounted Sailfish

Very interesting, but I don't see it working in that room, given the more modern feel of the space and the existing furniture. The new bookcase is a bit more detailed on the bottom, but still reads transisitonal, not heavy victorian. There are lots of tables out there that have stone or slate tops - maybe not on CL, but at retail sources. I could also see a drum table in there, which would give additional storage in the space as well.
