OT Tree Frog
Comments (6)Lol, that is so cute! Poor froggy looks like he is getting his head squeezed off though, lol. I had lots of toads when the boys were little with the pond right next to the house and they were always catching them. Kevin used to run around in his diaper outside all the time and I was changing him one day and he had a load of toads hidden in there. Scared the crap out of me, lol. My little girl did the same thing with her training pants. I was like whats up with my kids sticking frogs in their pants, lol. My oldest Sean is the only one that didn't do it....See MoreSort of OT: I can't keep up with these threads!
Comments (17)It is a treat to come in when time is available, to see what is happening with other gardeners around the world, not just here in our country. It is the dang hot humid month of August down here, and is really miserable. We still have Sept to go through yet too, so summer is here for us yet awhile longer. Yesterday I worked on my website, and that took all day up until almost 6 pm. I still have more I want to do, but after looking at html code all day, reworking things and uploading everything, it was most definitely time for a break. Thanks everyone for posting. It's what makes this a great forum. Solana ~ You are welcome, although I was mainly just a cheerleader as I am still learning the ways of my camera also. Do post your blog addy when it's up and running for that trip you took this summer. It will be a mini vacation for all of us without having to leave our homes. FlowerLady...See MoreOT Cuban Tree Frog
Comments (14)Acros the street there is a swamp and stream and there are tons of green tree frogs over there. I used to live down the street and we always had both frogs covering the sliding glass doors. Even had a barking tree frog. Theres no shortage of anoles around my house, the brown ones hang out in the sunnier spots and the native green ones in the shadier areas. Also geckos at night and quite a few toads. Right now there are lots of tiny baby toads in the grass. My yard has a live and let live policy except for fire ants and sugar ants coming in the house. Florida has been over run and invaded by people so whats a few tree frogs going to hurt. They breathe and live just like us. I don't want a big hand grabbing me and putting me to sleep in the freezer just cause I wasn't born here. At least they aren't fouling the water and producing noxious gases and poisoning the air. CTF are now a wild part of the Florida ecology. just too many places for them to breed and live, just like humans. The only time I'll kill them is when Florida is returned to forests, empty beaches and Native American villages....See MoreOT: HELP! I can't plan the kit bcs of sewer gas in bsmt bath!!
Comments (35)Can I get in on this conversation with a question? I have something similar in my 22 year old house. It is three stories. We do not have city sewer. We sometimes have a sewer gas odor that comes up the vents in two bathrooms only. They are exactly on top of each other. We have had a plumber out to the house three separate times. At first he said make sure to keep traps wet. We did that, smell sometimes comes back. He came out again, same thing and checked everything. Last time he said that all fixtures go into one large vent pipe on roof. Husband got up there and sure enough only one for 4.5 baths, washer, etc. The smell is only in these two bath areas. There is one bath below these two exactly as well. He said tub downstairs is not used much and trap could be dry. He extended the vent pipe up several feet in the air. He said sometimes when weather system moves in, it can hold gases down. We have absolutely no idea what this could be. It only happens every couple of weeks, but when it does, it smells so bad. We have also smelled this outside once or twice and it was so bad, I was so embarrassed. We were gone one week and our friends walked by the house to make sure everything was okay. They said they thought something BIG had died there and they actually walked around the back of the house but could not find anything. Please any thoughts. Desperate in NC...See Moreheatheron40
