More February Blooms...

Been a warm week or so. I was out moving pots and planting roses this past weekend in a sleeveless top. Unlike me to do so even in summer! LOL I sure as heck hope winter returns and some more rain comes before spring really hits.

I'm enjoying some halfway decent blooms right now tho... Colors are unusual on some due to blooming so early.

BROWN VELVET - lookin' more like SMOKY!

COTILLION - Waaaay deeper color than usual.

DELTA GOLD - Finishing out fairly normal on this one.

FLORA DANICA - The form is so different and color more pinky.

HEATHER - This one is normal coloring, or at least maybe a bit more intense. Love the veining!

KOKO LOCO - always unusual....

LORETTA LYNN VAN LEAR - Supposed to be apricoty-orange!

PUMPKIN PATCH - finishing out a hot pink. Wow!

RAINBOW NIAGARA - Freaky bloom with no orange and no stripes!

SANDRA RENAISSANCE bud... Can't wait to see the open bloom in a few days...

Yeah, you seem to have some weird colors on your roses!! How unusual!! Especially Pumpkin Patch!!!

My fav is Heather!

Sweet Cicely, no team here. I think hardy Calvin is from Arctic north. But I grow in z8-9. Hehe. Calvin, thanks for the sinense "gold bird". Is it nicely fragrant? The show must be great despite the inclement Canadian winter. rfraser, in addition to clouds orchid cited by white cat. I read about Eric Wolf of winterview orchid. It seems he is quite knowledgeable. Both could be good sources, although I havenÂt tried. White cat, where did you get your ÂTeikanÂ?

I have spent this month running my husband to hositals ( orthopedic hardware in wrist) doing his job and mine ( both self employed furniture craftsmen). Mostly I have ignored my plants. They have gone unwatered and I saw there blooms as I was running past them. I just hauled my hoses back from a prescribed burn I was working on the front of my property and watered things and did find some blooms. I apologize for all spelling mistakes and omitted names. I am still on the run and my mind is not easily popping them out. Also if you click the images they will pop up larger. Aloe variagata E. lola Some very small. Ghost plant . G. paraguayense (sp?) Spent A. x spinosissima ( one beauty I ran past all month long) Aloe grassy lassie that has bloomed all winter. Latin Lady, thank you for the complement on my TCs, but I can't take credit. The weather has done it this year. I, too, was in the mid 80s until the end of December. Didn't get my first flower until Dec. 29th. Then we had a cold snap - Florida style - and the daytime temps were 58-60 with nights of 42. That's when my plants budded heavily and brings me to the lovely flowers I have now. In the past I've had pretty sparse second blooms. I've never done the photo manipulation for my plants. I even leave my poinsettias out on the lanai in full sun all year. They turned color on their own. My TCs get filtered or indirect light under the porch. I'm afraid that wasn't much of a tip to help you out! Maybe bringing them indoors to a cooler setting will help them set buds? I hope that works in the garage for you.

The Heather sure has a nice color and is quite pretty. Does it have a fragrance? Out of curiosity, where did you get it? It is not listed in the 2015 Combined Rose List or the Modern Roses 12 book that I have.

Bustopher, I got HEATHER (aka SILVER ANNIVERSARY) from Hortico over 10yrs ago. I seem to remember it has a nice scent. Ya know I could've sworn I saw it available somewhere recently. But I could be mistaken. HMF says Hortico and Heirloom carry it, but neither have it listed. Heirloom doesn't even list it as a sold out one.
