Recommendations for greenhouse material
Comments (2)Anne, You may want to consider twin-wall polycarbonate. It has almost one-half the heat loss factor vs. glass, requires less structural support because of it's reduced weight and quality material lasts 20 years. My now 7 year old greenhouse is glazed with polycarbonate and has withstood heavy snow and 100+ deg. summers....See MorePlease help me choose decking material! Nicest for New England?
Comments (7)A few years ago I was looking around for white oak, very good stuff same qualities as ipe, and ran into white cedar, eastern white cedar, true northern white cedar, atlantic swamp cedar, white cedar that actually is a cypress ...and on and on it went. "white cedar " seems to be about the same as Western Red cedar far as decay/bugs go. Due to transport cost one is used on the east one on the west and of course the wr trees are much bigger so the lumber has more sap wood. Go for it Stacey!!! It will help out the local cash flow. But dont expect the the long term service of South American or quality manmade. J....See Morecountertop help- which material to choose?
Comments (26)I did not know before I started my overhaul that there is a difference between quartz and engineered quartz. If it matters to you then you want to read up. The article linked below explains it very briefly and simply. I just had engineered quartz installed, and I absolutely love it! It is tough as nails and gorgeous to boot. Sometimes I wish I had done granite or marble but I am thrilled with the durability, especially since DH is somewhat of a heathen in the kitchen. ;o) Good thing he's cute. Here is a link that might be useful: quartz/engineered quartz...See MoreHelp with Choosing Bathroom Materials
Comments (13)Don't judge me but in the approx. 2 months since it was finished, I haven't once cleaned my shower tile walls or floor (did clean the glass door once) and it looks new still. DH never squeegees, and the fan barely works (an expensive Fantech!) so the walls and shower floor stay visibly wet about 18 hours a day. What I used... Walls: Arctic White 3"x6" subway tile (Daltile Rittenhouse) with 'Bright White' grout- Laticrete; Floors (in shower and bathroom): matte white 1" hex Merola from big orange ceramic tile floor; "Smoke Gray" Laticrete grout. My goal was to make the floor grout look like it looks when its dirty. So I took some grout from the kids' 14 year old bathroom and matched it. I was aiming for '1920s vintage but new' (my house was built in the 20s and has alot of charm still - crystal knobs, alot of molding in most rooms), but also not high maintenance. (I put in Carrera marble counters in the kitchen 2 years ago, and honestly miss the laminate - I don't need added work for aesthetics at my age.) Anyway, HTH somehow! I know everyone here helped me so much when we renovated....See More843ragdoll
