Thanks, Raven. I use Picasa infrequently for work, and wouldn't have seen the notice. The pictures are in Google Photo. I think I lost a lot of links, though. To be expected when one uses cloud services.

The zdnet article is informative. The Picasa desktop app will continue to work but won't be updated. Content is automatically migrated to Google Photo so there's no timeframe in which something needs to be done.

None of mine have shown up, they are still on Picasa. Not sure what needs to be done, I logged in to both of them. Luckily I don't have a lot of pictures there but wish they would be transferred.

I use picassa to download my pictures to my computer. Then, I also use it to edit the pictures. But my pictures are on my computer... so, I guess, this means, it all does not affect me?

If you don't store any there you are good but the functionality will eventually end.

Oklamoni, both Macs and Win PCs have built-in software to offload photos from cameras. Most all of the available photo handling programs (many are free) do so too.

I am transferring my photos from Picasa to my PC. Then will delete Picasa. That is because when I do download photos from camera they are always downloaded into Picasa. I am glad you pointed out that our PCs still have the ability to download photos. I thought that wasn't available anymore with Windows 10 since Picasa just takes over. I used to really like Picasa, but not anymore.

You don't need to transfer pics from Picasa to your PC. Your pictures are already on your PC. Picasa is an mirror image of what's already on your PC.

Thanks for posting Raven. I was out of the country the day of the original post so am happy that it was brought back up to the top with comments.

I take hundreds, if not thousands of photos a month and use Picasa every single day I'm not on the road traveling. I love the program and know it inside out. And while I fully understand that I will be still be able to use it, I am disappointed that there will be no further improvements on this great and easy to use app.

I upload my images to Flickr, with only my mobile images uploading to Google Photo. In my mind, Google Photo is a much better alternative to Apple's iCloud as it allows me to delete images from my phone to free up space without deleting them on iCloud as well (at least that's what I've read will happen.

Hopefully Google will offer an app similar to Picasa with some much needed upgrades.
