Help modifying layout for my bar

Soooooo...we are planning on ripping out all of the current flooring in our walkout basement (most is carpet but bar area has an engineered cherry wood floor). We want more of a brown wood floor, not red, which will not go with the stain of the cherry cabinets in our bar. So we are looking to possibly reface the cabinets or restain them, new counters, paint walls & ceiling, and a backsplash.

Here is what I need help with...I would also like to add a dishwasher drawer and an undercounter ice machine. If I keep the same general footprint....where could they go? I would also consider an undercounter freezer with drawers to store ice in instead of an ice maker if that would make matters easier.

18" Ice Maker to the left of the refrigerators and 24" DW drawer to the right of the sink.

Rhome - They are downsizing since we moved out years ago and my sil moved out last year. It will be the two of them plus my brother-in-law, although he may move out soon too. They host family meals probably once a month - usually 7 of us in total. I like your idea of doing a 39" aisle for the working area...and making the island counter 33". I like that alot actually. Another idea is for us to do two stools at the far end by the breakfast area, so there's plenty of room on either side of the island. Mamadadapaige - We need to keep that tiny wall between the great room and kitchen for structural purposes, unfortunately.

Update.... Instead of percentages, I now use actual measurements. The scale I use is 4 boxes or 0.8" on my layouts = 24" in real life. So, a standard 24" deep x 24" wide cabinet would be: height = 0.8" and width = 0.8" A 36" wide cabinet would be: height = 0.8" and width = 1.2" (still 24" deep) Note that the toolbar shown above is for Microsoft 2003, not 2007.

Having lived without adequate storage for years, I would never recommend sacrificing cabinets if you are concerned about that. Function is more important than looks (which includes symmetry!). Would you be able to duct your new hood to vent outdoors? I might put 2 shelves in the old oven spot for both a microwave and an air fryer/toaster convection oven. I have both and use both often. You would have to have an electrician change the wiring to that spot and add outlets. I have seen people report good results DIY cabinet painting using the better quality brands Ben Moore, Sherwin Williams et al) cabinet specific paint. The results will only be as good as your surface prep, and you would want to have your discarded cabinet to practice on.

sheloveslayouts – I guess we could do that. I was just concerned that a wall of all 36" cabinets would look odd (although my current configuration probably doesn't look any better). Raimondi – Agree that we need to push for more available sizes. If we are able to access other sizes, what would you recommend?

Well buehl, that was easy! I have stood and looked at the bar many times to no avail. I think what bothers me is that the glass fridge, which is kind of the focal point, is not centered under the shelf holding all the liquor so I thought maybe I should move it down a little or move the sink. But your suggestion would be the easiest to do. Would it be a problem having the ice maker that far away from the sink? I don't know why, but I figured it would have to be close to the water source.

Night owl, I assure you that you would move out as soon as you moved in with all the chaos from my boys!

Awesome bar! What fun :) Have you considered adding an undercounter kegerator? We put one in our (much smaller) wet bar, and it's been great.
