DO I need to paint same color if dining is passthrough from kitch
Comments (5)I have green in my kitchen and rich cream in great room that is attached. If you have colors that go well and don't clash, then they can be seperate colors. Here is a photo of mine just to give you a visual. I'm not sure you can see it really well, as the light is so bright, but the walls on the far left and far right are the rich creme and the walls in the center in the kitchen are the green. This second photo shows the rich creme in the background on the right. Hope this helped....See MoreWhat to do with a pass-through?
Comments (7)I had one in the house I lived in before this between the kitchen and dining room at the end of a table height bar in the kitchen. We opened it up because the kitchen was in the middle of the house,no window anywhere close, and the dining room was cut off by the wall.We just framed it out like a window opening. It was about 6" deep and I used it for a couple of decorative candle holders and a pot of ivy. My parents house had one that was originally a bathroom window. They added on to the house and instead of closing the window up they just left it as it was.Never could figure out why they didn't close it up.It opened into a hallway of the new addition and Mother put louvered shutters on it.I hated that thing. Not private at all, even with the shutters closed when you were in the bathroom.LOL I think I would just leave it open and frame it out nicely or do as Kframe suggested.Maybe insert glass shelving. If you are using the bar top to eat on it might be nice just to leave it open.It would be a good pass through for food if it opens into the dining room....See MoreDo you have island/peninsula pendants and table chandelier?
Comments (9)As with GrannaBelle, our DR chandelier and pendant lights (2 over peninsula & 2 over sink) are from Murray Feiss. They are part of the "Morningside" collection. Our peninsula pendants & DR chandelier are approx the same distance apart as yours. My feeling is that when they are so close together they should compliment each other. IMO, they should not be starkly different or clash. Here are pics of ours: If you check the link below, you will see they have several different styles, all complimentary, that can be chosen from. As you can see, they do not have to match exactly. (They have some new ones for 2008!) Comments (13)The peninsula is not a kitchen prep area unless it is for a large party or other reason we are unusually spread out. It is in a foot from the edge and high enough that no one's head would touch it, even if they came close. I hope to one day install an arch of glass cabs on the peninsula, so needed a placeholder. I thought the size would work to give a little separation to not have the full kitchen in open view from the front door. I'd prefer something less clunky than ours which has 3 down lights and 2 uplights and is somehow wrong for our space. I have my heart set on something like one of these. I'd pull any of them higher up than shown:...See MoreErica L
