Looking for 36" duel fuel range

Remodeling the kitchen & want to go with a 36" duel fuel range. Not sure about Viking, Miele, Thermador, Jenn Air, Wolf, or Blue Star. Would love recommendations.

Bluestar doesn't make a dual fuel range, you could look at Capital either the open burner or the sealed burner. The capital sealed burner represents excellent value compared to your list above. The open burner is still excellent vale in comparison to others on your list, but has IMO better heat distribution to the base of the pan by far. not to mention the internal rotisserie which works much better than people expect.

Can you talk about the simmer capabilities and the griddle with the Capital Connoissseurian? Also, how about the oven? The door and racks seemed less solid than the Miele or the Thermador. Thanks for any answers.

You may want to look at the Thermador. I have seen many positive reviews here (Google Gardenweb Houzz and whichever appliance you want to see reports on from users here.) I would stay away from Wolf due to the blue enamel problem. Personally, I would go for Bluestar, but that is not DF. Good luck with your project.

Do an all gas range. Or cooktop. Then add a separate electric wall oven. The venting for the cooking will be just as costly as the range. Maybe more since you will have heated make up air required. #bringsophieback https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5513253/bring-sophie-back#23104977

I think based on how you cook and bake an all gas range would work well for you. Take a look at the BS RCS open burner. It's less expensive than the RNB so it will probably be a better fit for your budget (it was for mine!!). The burners aren't as powerful as the RNB but they are plenty powerful imo for anything you might want to make. I've had mine for almost four years and I love it. From stir frys to sautés to simmering it's fantastic. It won't heat a large pot of water to a boil quickly but it will do just about everything else incredibly quickly and easily. I bake bread a lot and the oven is great for that. We also roast veggies, bake fish, chicken, cupcakes etc... All come out wonderfully.

the CC simmers very well, historically there was a problem but that has been dealt with for several years now, As for the racks and door, the door is not a problem, opens easy, closes and seals well, easy to remove if needs be, stays very very cool on the outside. The racks will hold more than enough weight so no issues with them not been solid enough for the job they do. As for the rolling system they use I am pretty sure they are the worst in the world..... WHEN you compare the to other rolling racks which have ball bearings. That been said they do work well enough for a large turkey or an oversized cast iron casserole dish

That is very helpful. Thank you for your insight on this. I have not been able to actually try a connected Capital. How about the griddle? Would you rate this as good quality? And then finally (sorry to harass you/steal all your knowledge) but what are your thoughts about the oven function itself. I know there have been several posts on this, but I am referring to the maintenance of temperature and the preheat if there is a large drop in temperature resulting in burning food. Is this any issue? thanks!!

I have a new Thermador 36" Pro-Harmony 6 burner dual fuel. I've only just gotten into the addition, but I love it. Due to the star burners, I can now heat my panini pan and lid on two burners and have each hot all over without cold spots. There is a lot of control, and it glides easily, for adjusting the flame. The oven racks are a dream--such smooth gliding. I have roasted and baked in the oven and everything was perfect.

The only thing that I think could be improved in the design is that if a person leans against the knobs, you'll hear the gas igniter tick. Of course, I know what it is and move off, but a child could hit the controls on the front of this range.

Installation -- the Thermador ranges ship with the "island" back guard. Looking at photos on Houzz, you'd think it was okay to install against a tile wall. No! It was in the instructions that I discovered that I had to purchase the 9" back guard.

Range hood -- I have the 600 CFM Thermador canopy hood. My building code required a switch up in it to turn on my HVAC fan to run when the hood is running in order to provide air flow with the right pressure inside the house.

I would think that other ranges/hoods of this level will have similar installation/safety requirements. I highly recommend you read the installation manual of your contenders before buying so that you can ensure the requirements can be met.
