Another just for fun post
Comments (18)lol Phil, I got mine at a flea market for 50 cents as a few leaves and now every few years I have to cut it back to 8 feet tall to fit in my house, I have to bring it in, my winters are too cold for it. Some day I'll find the pics of my orchid cactus, another tropical, blooms all winter for me. Janice, I am in total awe of your pics, like WOW, bit time WOW. Now I Know the area your are in, they wouldn't happen to be taking in the Hocking Hills area? I ask because I have told you grew up in Columbus, but did go to the Hocking Hills area many times and those pics remind me of that area. But then again, being where you are, they could also be other areas, you really do live around some wonderful natural beauty. But then so do I, I'm not all that far from Hinckley, that is where the hosta dog and I like to hike the most, such wonderful sandstone formations. Sassy, you do such important work with your crocet, I couldn't imagine having to be a parent knowing their child was going to die and having just a little something to wrap the precious thing in during it's last minutes. Please keep up your work, you may never get a thank you, but you know how much the little things matter in your heart. Mc, looking forward to your pics of the mosaics when you have time. Just got to remember to check the ot post for this post, lol. Von, I have a passion for photography too and like you, always seem to end up being the photographer for events. It is a hobby I would like to pursue more, I don't have a fancy camera, but I think my pics turn out fairly well. We won't even go into the needing glasses bit to do my cross stitch, sore spot there, don't you hate getting old, lol. And Woo Hoo on the first grandbaby. And tick, boring is sitting in front of the tv all day, you have a life so you ARE NOT BORING!!!!!!!! Hostaholic, now sewing is something I have never got into, I can sew, have a sewing machine, just not my thing. But great you do it for the kids, they need all the help they can get in these school productions....See MoreAnother Dress Challenge - MOB and MOG
Comments (115)OK.. so we gathered this morning with champagne, wine and spanx-- and tried on a total of 14 dresses all lovingly hand-picked for her. It started out with a bang with the number one pick being the first she tried on. That always makes it easier when the first one fits, right? There were only a few complete misses.. and quite a few wins. Whew! I admit that I had fears of nothing working. The super surprise is the number one pick broke all the rules. It was much shorter than she wanted (in the photo), a shape she was certain she couldn't wear (sheath) and it is a blush pink.. but it was perfect. She was smitten as soon as she saw it... Best of all, it fit her perfectly. No need for adjustments. Next favorite was this one though I need to order a size larger (or she needs to have a rib removed). It is proving tricky to find the right size.. but this also looked absolutely beautiful on her-- better and dressier than in the photo. This also fit her beautifully but the lace on the arms was scratchy. I think we are all in agreement that THIS is the color she needs for the fall wedding. We just need to find it in another dress. And while this one looked stunning (and very slimming) on her-- it's been 100% nixed because it looks like something my mother wore to one of my sister's weddings. It's a shame because it was very comfortable and really looked great on her.. but we also agreed that it's too much bling for a MOG. The hunt is now focused on that dark fuschia color. It really brought her face alive and looks stunning with the wedding colors. There are two other dresses that look great and would be perfectly fine-- but they are a tad "expected" for MOG. We're keeping one of those as a fallback. Thank you all for all of your time and your many suggestions! Oly, I know I balked at the florals but we all agree that it's perfect for the spring wedding....See MoreFloof post: Another toppings survey. This time:salad.
Comments (40)I like poppy seed dressing, but most are JUST sweet. My niece made a version of it for a family get together that wowed me, because it has a good amount of tang to offset the sweet. She won't mind if I share it. 3/4 cup white vinegar 1.5 cups canola oil 3/4 cup sugar 2 TBSP white or yellow onion 1.25 TBSP salt 3/4 tsp dry mustard 1.5 TBSP poppy seeds Place all ingredients except the poppy seeds in a blender. Blend on high for at least 1 minutes, or until the onion is fully chopped up and emulsified into the dressing. Add the poppy seeds and pulse a few times until incorporated into the dressing. Refrigerate....See MoreAnother Wedding Dress Q: Can i make this work?
Comments (81)Thanks, Nini! I like it too.. it just makes me happy. Sorry, Mtn! Missed your recommendation for the blue. I do like them-- but here's the thing, it's not a color i wear much so I won't get much use of them outside the wedding. Also, discovered i wear a 10.5 in the Miller sandal... oops. Ruby, I love the metallic but i think it would need to be silver.. the problem is, I already have dark gray patent leather. I shouldn't get two colors so similar but wow. I think I really like the silver. WDYT?? I think i am down to nude, ivory/white or silver....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
