What bathroom countertop for young boys? Corian v. limestone?
Comments (13)Thanks everyone. I am stain testing the cameo white corian vs. the blizzard ceasar stone (looked at it again, and the freckles are not so bad really). I am afraid the corian will scratch and read some not so favorable reviews here, so I am leaning towards the cs. Plus it did not do so well on my fingernail polish remover test. Thanks mayland for the suggestion, but we have already installed porcelain undermount sinks. Just can't see giving my boys marble (after I type this, I am cleaning up the carpet from the sparkly red and green spin-art splatter), and granite is too much movement. Stainless steel? Well, love the look but not so much for the bathroom. Thanks so much sassyinak for such a comprehensive summary!! It really made me think of all the options....See MoreBathroom countertops: Quartz or marble
Comments (11)I've had quartz in my kitchen for four years and you really do have to work hard to stain, etch, or scorch it. People who don't understand the product, and who don't read their use and care information so they abuse it, are the ones who need Joseph's services. A white marble-look quartz is easier to stain than a darker quartz, but a little Soft Scrub with Bleach, recommended by the manufacturer, will remove the stain. As for etching, you'd have to set a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner or an acetone product on the quartz and forget about it. You might possibly cause a color change in the resin by placing a hot curling iron directly on the counter. Some stone yards do sell quartz remnants. Most of the cost is in the fabrication and installation. With some quartz manufacturers, you can buy a half slab of some colors, but that will cost over $1000 installed and you'll have a lot left over....See MoreHow much quartz countertop space is needed around bathroom sink?
Comments (4)Thanks for answers. I am trying to locate a fabricator. My cabinet maker said he knew of some, but couldn't recommend them(!). I'm still waiting for the recommendation from my contractor. I wanted to use a brand called "Vadara", and they recommend I use one of their people. I suppose it might not matter too much which one I pick if it is warranteed....See MoreLooking for a quartz countertop to compliment my secondary bathrooms
