Comp Help is where I cut my PC teeth years ago. Need help again.

I have a lot of pics stored on Photobucket. When I go there now I get this message: We have noticed that you have Ad Block enabled. Please consider disabling it for our site or upgrading to our AdFree Plus account. There is a "Go ad free" option there. I don't see anything re free or cost. I assume "upgrading" means "not free." Am I right or wrong?

I just clicked on my PB in favs and it opened right up to my library where I have over 600 photos and n/p however there is a video on the right Go ad free and it cost .99 no thanks, you should have your Pb just as always. P.S. I do not have or use Adblock so/ try disabling it see if that works?

This is what I see (if I disable uBlock Origin and enable Adblock Plus):

Adding the filter s700.photobucket.com###adBlockMessaging seems to work using Adblock Plus. I bet it would also work using Adblock.

Strangely enough, I don't see the message when using uBlock Origin (which I now use exclusively), only when using Adblock Plus. I'm subscribed to more filter lists in uBlock Origin though, perhaps one of them is taking care of it.

At least it's what I would consider a "polite" message... a request to disable instead of an outright refusal to serve the page. :-)

Hi Beth, I'm up the coast by LAX. My biggest problem year-round is mildew and I've been culling, er, 'losing through attrition' the ones that are the worst. Rust is annoying because it defoliates, but mildew, in my experience anyway, eventually kills roses. I fear many of yours will have a problem with it so I'd start thinking what to do about it now. Speaking for myself, side from the environmental concerns I have finally admitted that I am not disciplined enough to spray. Now I've gotten into OGRs, fwiw. Of the ones you have... Disneyland - bullet proof, great little rose Gemini - pretty blooms which make me keep it (for now) but really struggles with mildew Olympiad - very disease resistant in the ground, HOWEVER, others didn't like being in a pot where they struggled and died from mildew. Love - had it a long time ago, may mildew Voodoo - loved it a lot, twice. If you're jonesing for orange, you might try Perfect Moment, mildews a bit but doesn't mind too much. Marmalade Skies is not as dark as Voodoo and a flori, but 'bout bullet proof. I think there are some other new oranges. I'd sure ask here so you won't be disappointed if you want orange or lavender colors. Henry Fonda - not on your list, but the most glorious *non-fading* bright yellow with frilly petals, the DH's favorite. Traviata - mine is the little engine that can. Some folks don't care for it because it doesn't smell, but I like the blooms and admire greatly it's complete resistance to mildew & rust. It did get defoliated by anthracnose a couple of months ago but you wouldn't know it today. Very upright. Lastly, you need to look up Grandmother's Hat (hybrid perpetual, Jeri's favorite, divine smell) and Golden Celebration (yellow Austin, also great smell) using the search engine here and on the Antique forum. You absolutely can't do wrong with either, I think you'll love the pics but will swoon over the fragrances.

Hi Luis - You don't need cold to initiate bloom, just stop watering. When you decide your want your plant to experience "winter", stop watering. Think of it this way - you have a rainy and a dry season. When the dry season comes, it is the tropical equivalent of winter and even the indoor plants need to dry out. The leaves will die and it will kill you not to water the thing but be strong! Feel the bulb and you will see, it is firm and has plenty of moisture but your goal is to get the leaves to all die down. After at least half the leaves have dried and died, you can start watering again. You also need to give that baby a little more root space. After the dead leaves are all trimmed or pulled off is a good time to do this. Plant it in some new soil in a pot about 8 inches in diameter and 8 inches high (uh, make that 20 cm or so) I would let 2-3 months go by without watering. About 3 months after you have repotted and start watering again, you should have flowers. Lived in Hawaii for a while and this worked there. It is a little cooler there, though.

Mike, If you're going to dig it up and re-pot it, maybe you should think about using a very large terra cotta tub with lots of soil that would keep the roots cool, and keep it outside in the shade. I would think that in your garage it could get pretty hot and with no air movement well, maybe outside shade would be better. I know where I live in 6b if the temps go up to the high 80's in the sun, they all wilt but revive soon after they are out of the sun. Couldn't imaging what they would do if the temps reached 100, but I might never know because I myself would surely melt! Just a thought........Donna

I bought about a year ago. The Kenmore and Whirlpool Duet FLs (not the sport -- the larger ones) seemed to still be well thought of then. I heard good things from salesmen, the repair tech and readers here -- but the Duet Sports are apparently a different animal. I didn't get the Duet though -- in part becuse of hte bug-eye design and the fact that is stuck out further than any other and I have limited space. Samsung gets fewer comments, but they seem to be mostly good. Electrolux is newer to the scene. I got LG FLs and love them. The can do a quick wash or s simple rinse and spin if that's all that's needed, and allergy removing steam wash, a sanitizing cycle, perma press cycle, bulky, delicates, hand wash, normal -- and I think I've used most of the cycles -- more so than on my DW where I could have a single cycle and be almost as happy. The newest model came out a month or two after I bought ine (after 2 months of no washer 00 wasn't waiting for a little extr size I wasn't sure if I needed). I recently washed 50+ tshirts in a single load (removing the sizing and any excess dye before they are worn in a July 4th parade). They are amazingly quiet and smooth. We wash laundry for 2 adults, 2 teen boys, 2 large dogs (towels and bedding), comforters, sleeping bags, my mom's laundry, band uniforms during marching season -- it's all been good. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether I can felt anything successfully in them. I can't remember if my last effort was in the old no-agitator TL or this FL. I can make do on the occassional project -- I'm very happy with the regular washing and drying. If the laundry only folded itself....

I have adblock, but, I just ignore that message. It doesnt stop things from working like they always did.

I surfed some more over PB looking for any more info I might find. Finally found a box under UPLOAD, on a different line, with this information: Add Block Plus is currently disabled, etc.
Was the message on PB just a sales pitch?

Chuggerguy, in my searching I saw the Polite Ad you mentioned. I agree.

I appreciate the help from you folks. Thanks again.

I haven't seen that Sue. It sounds like maybe they're requesting that you disable Adblock Plus and they're showing you how?

That would be one way to handle it I suppose. Disable it on photobucket.com only and if you don't get inundated with offensive ads, leave it that way.

There's an Adblock Warning Removal List on this page but when I briefly tried it, it seemed to miss the message pictured above.

I love Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus. It makes it so easy to add a custom rule when the main filter subscription (such as Easylist) misses something.

I've been using uBlock Origin. I like it a lot. It has an built-in eye dropper tool that helps you do a custom block. The eye dropper tool seems to do an adequate job but I kinda like the Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus better. I think it makes it easier to (using the shortcut keys) narrow and widen my selection until I get it just right. So, although I use uBlock Origin to block ads, I keep Adblock Plus around (disabled) just so I can use the Element Hiding Helper.

chuggerguy, I think I will just leave it the way it is; I'm not having any problems, just wondering about that message. You left me in the dust when I saw Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus. and u Block origin. That is 'way beyond my pea brain.
