Comments (1)I LOVE banana bread!!!! I try to make mine as healthy as possible by using whole wheat, and even though whole wheat isnt always the best tasting, the banana bread still tastes great. I also add nuts and cinnamon. Its delicious and nutritious! Its pretty easy to make and is really worth making. The only thing that would make banana bread even better is using bananas from your own banana plant! I also like banana smoothies. They are great on hot summer days. Good luck and Happy New Year!...See MoreElectrolux slide-in induction range EW30IS6CJS 3 day review
Comments (88)We love this range.... & would buy it again! As with every new appliance, there are new things to become familiar with.... the induction cooktop is very straight-forward (and we had used an induction plate prior to buying this range, so induction wasn't a new concept to us), but the oven seems to maintain more humidity than my old one, but I have learned to use convection more since I last posted... so for things that i want a drier or crisper result, I use the convection option, or open the door a bit to let the extra moisture/steam out. I haven't found it takes noticeably longer to preheat than my old self-cleaning oven, but I see others have complained of this. The oven interior is slightly smaller than my old one, but I've gotten used to that, too, now. I recently used the bread-proof setting which worked like a charm. If I had a wish list, I would put a small hob at the front, since I use the small hobs a lot, and if you are stirring or tending the pot, it is nice not to have to reach back quite so far for an extended period of time. There weren't many choices available in my region when I bought this range. It was either this one or a GE cafe induction range. I'm sure there are more to choose from now, but I'm better with fewer choices, otherwise I'd never be able to make up my mind! Wait for the big sales if you can... stores sells these for $1000 - $1500 off the regular price, & I've seen these big appliance sales more than once each year....See MoreBaking banana bread
Comments (17)Ellendi6161, the recipe I use is the way my mother made banana cream pie, and it is simple yet so good. I use a store bought frozen deep dish pie crust just to make it easy on me. Mom had no such short cut available and made her own crust. Bake the shell empty according to directions after pricking it well. Cool. To make the filling, use one large Jello brand Cook and Serve Vanilla Pudding mix or two small boxes and whole milk to cook the pudding.(Be sure it is the Cook and Serve pudding and NOT instant.) Let the pudding cool in the pan 5 minutes after it has come to a boil and is done. Slice a large ripe banana thinly and line the bottom of the pie crust with a layer of the slices. Stir the pudding and spoon a thin layer of pudding over the slices. Add another layer of thinly sliced banana, and then pour the rest of the pudding into the crust, mounding as much into the crust as it will hold. Chill in the refrigerator several hours. At serving time, beat 1 cup of whipping cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 2 or 3 tablespoons of sugar. Cover the entire top of the pie with all of the whipped cream. Cut and serve....See MoreBanana Bread
Comments (14)Haven't you heard the song, a jingle from a number of years ago, "I'm Chiquita banana and I've come to say, bananas need to ripen in a certain way, when they are flecked with brown and have a golden hue, bananas taste the best and are the best for you ... you can put 'em in a salad ... you can put 'em in a pie... aye ... any way you wanta eat 'em, it's impossible to beat 'em. But bananas like the climate of the very, very tropical equator ... ... and you should never put bananas in the refrigerator". Actually ... I think it should be amended to " ... into the refrigerator" ... but then the metre would be off. And, of course ... we know so much more about most everything now than the folks did a generation or two ago .... ole joyful ... who complains that he can't seem to remember a dang thing any more...See More- 10 years ago
