susanelewis- I am a scrooge when it comes to buying items for my home, but I also insist on quality. I have two of the Totos you're considering, and consider them to be a fair price for what you get. In the four years they've been installed, they have always flushed properly the first time and have never plugged up. After having bought and installed probably ten different toilets over the years in my various homes, I'm sticking with Toto. They are somewhat more expensive than what you can buy at Home Depot, but I put a great value in retiring my plunger, and never having anyone, including guests, have to ask me to unclog the toilet.

OK pricklypearcactus, you're making me do alot of research now.... Here's the 3" flapper, model# THU175S, used on Toto "G-Max" 1.6gpf toilets, like the original, now-discontinued Drake: That flapper, from what I've been told, can be replaced by model# THU140S, which was used on their "Power Gravity" 1.6gpf toilets that were their midrange models - G-Max was their high-end. Note the lack of a hole on the side, which keeps it from falling until the water level is lower, thus sending more water to the bowl: But both of those 1.6gpf designs have been discontinued in favor of two 1.28gpf flush systems: E-Max (on most of the "Eco" models) and Double Cyclone (on most of the "II" models). Now here's where things get complicated - all of these seem to use a whole new range of flappers - a quick search turned up at least three new ones - THU253S, THU277S, and THU299S. Amongst the changes, most (all?) of these have added a float that sits above the flapper. I don't know if the float can be adjusted or removed - haven't seen one in person yet. There's a picture of the flapper from the Eco Drake, which I think uses the 277, on Terry's site: (here). To get an idea of the difference, look at the parts diagrams for the old 1.6 Drake and the new 1.28 Eco Drake. Now see the difference in part #6, the flapper? It does seem, as Terry noted, that the rest of the tank (and the bowl for that matter) haven't changed - compare the other part numbers. Maybe all you need to do to convert an Eco Drake into an old-style G-Max Drake is remove the float, or at least swap to the old flapper, although Terry says on his thread that the flush valve is different too. There was a 1.6gpf Double Cyclone in the lineup until recently (on the Neorest, Soiree, and Guinevere) - I can't find what flapper they used. This is way more than I ever wanted to know about toilet flappers....

Actually most if not all elongated toilet seats are standardized to fit any elongated toilet. If you have a conventional round bowl it will take the standard round style seat. If you are unsure, Toto makes a full line of seats other than the one that comes on the drake. From what Ive seen online the common complaint about the Drake seat is that it is thin and contemporary and has a tendency to make you feel as if you are sliding backwards when seated on it. We have 2 Toto Ultramax styled toilets and the original seats were very different from the one on a Drake. I just recently replaced one with a Toto Washlet and its great.

OP - You should change the title of this thread because you are receiving responses based on paying $6000 ONLY for soft close whereas the $6000 is for a number of different upgrades. The Level 2 cabinets seem to be constructed far better than Level One and IMO superior drawer construction is worth $6000 along with full extension under mount drawers and probably a style that is more pleasing to me. Of course the builder is making a huge profit on it but that's not the issue. You are a captive audience and cabinets are (at least to me) part of the actual construction of the home. The builder is providing the least expensive crap cabinets baked into the "price" of the home and then profiting because people are going to want or in the case of well constructed cabinetry need to upgrade. What are the upgrades for cabinets at each level because those are a lot of upgrades. I wouldn't stint on items that provide increased function and increased duration. However I wouldn't pay for upgrades that are easy to change down the road - counters; flooring choices, faucets etc.
