Toilet Seat Alternative for Toto Drake?

I'd like to buy a Toto Drake elongated toilet, but many of the reviews I've read say the seat (that you pay extra for) is a cheap, flimsy feeling plastic one. How would I find an alternative seat from a different maker that would fit and attach properly to a Toto Drake? (Unless all elongated toilets have the same dimensions and the seats are interchangeable, but I doubt that that's the case.)

Actually most if not all elongated toilet seats are standardized to fit any elongated toilet. If you have a conventional round bowl it will take the standard round style seat. If you are unsure, Toto makes a full line of seats other than the one that comes on the drake. From what Ive seen online the common complaint about the Drake seat is that it is thin and contemporary and has a tendency to make you feel as if you are sliding backwards when seated on it. We have 2 Toto Ultramax styled toilets and the original seats were very different from the one on a Drake. I just recently replaced one with a Toto Washlet and its great.

i don't think the seat comes with the toilet at all... i think the upper end models do (i know the soiree comes with the seats as i'm ordering two of those) but for the drakes i ordered, i had to pay additional for them...

hmm... should i now get the soft close seat?

I have the Drake - elongated. The salesperson said the Toto toilet seat is quite uncomfortable and recommended a brand called "Church" (slow-close). It is fine but sometimes buckles when I seat on the closed seat. I bought a cheap ($18) soft close seat at Home Depot for my basement bath -- it is fine also but again I would never stand on it!

Thanks all! We ended up getting the soft close (it was actually free thanks to the intercession of my local plumbing store maven Jackie. I highly recommend her to anyone in LA if anyone's interested). I have to say that to me, the soft close doesn't really matter much; the lid gets left up most of the time anyway. In truth I find it a little annoying waiting for it to close down when necessary, but not really a big deal. What I do note, however, is a complete "YUP" to stacey's point. We also have always had wooden toilet seats. I think my parents got one at some point in my youth and I thought it the height of sophistication, to tell the truth. It's a weird teensy thing I felt it hard to let go of from deep inside. But like Stacey, I've come to really like the toto seats. I was worried about the steep angle but it is actually quite, um - how to put this delicately? - it's very functional. And it's not obtrusive as a negative. It's an impressive piece of subtle but deep engineering! Whatever does this mean about the difference between our cultures? I couldn't presume to guess but I'm sure others have... Hi Breezy. I did one bathroom that *finally* just got finished, um, almost: still need two lights. And I am thrilled with it. I have one to go. Guess I did another one too that I also like, but it's not done yet either. But the decisions in that one are not oppressive. The utterly undone one, though ... oy.

How high is Toto Drake ADA toilet?

I just looked at the model CST454CEFG (Drake 2-piece 1.28 gal w/SanaGloss) on the Toto web site. It shows the height of the tank as 30" and the top of the seat (not counting the seat lid) as 17 1/4". -- Eric

That may be the same seat as the Toto Ultimate. My initial reaction was about the same as yours. I decided that we would use it for while and then change if it was intolerable. We rapidly adjusted to the seat and have used them on three toilets for 3 years now. None of us are over 190 pounds nor under 115. Other sizes people may interface (I couldn't resist) with the seat differently. The soft-close feature still works perfectly.

In my old house I had a Toto seat on my Toto Drake and I had no complaints about it.

In the new house I bought (for another Toto Drake) a soft-close seat by Church which also removes very easily for cleaning. Again, I find it very comfotable - no complaints.

Not quite true...
I have Toto Eco Drake Toilets, the 1.28g versions. I believe the Elongated bowl is the same as the Drake, just the tank is different.

In any case...I bought Mayfair wood white toilet seats and they over hang the bowl by about 1/2-3/4". The color is slightly is off as well.
Next time I'll be more careful when I put new toilet seats if I get more Toto toilets.
