That looks like hair or lint. Definitely not mite webbing.

I agree, mite webbing doesn't look like that. I would suggest getting a magnifying loop if you want to see if you still have mites. They're ridiculously inexpensive on sites like Ebay or Amazon and pretty much the only sure fire way to tell if the mites are back.

I get 2 pairs of 3.5X reading glasses. that magnify at 3.5 X 3.5 = 12.25. Best of all you don't have to hold them and at the dollar tree they are $1 each

I use Temprid and Oberon (Forbid) as a foliar spray and left over Temprid gets watered in as a systemic. I thought I was to do 2 applications about 2 weeks apart. Now I also see scale, however, I think I purchased the tree that way. None of them were moving.

Oh, I forgot to mention it seems like this all started after a foliar spray with Superthrive. I'm throwing that s--t out!

Superthrive does nothing except to provide the gardener with a glowing feeling.

I still say that stuff is not webbing.

The fine white stuff on the leaves is debris from something, but is not anything from mites or another pest.

Is your tree small enough to wash every individual leave and stem. Thy it you will be surprised how fast it goes. A tree this size takes about 15 minutes.

I have 5 small trees. Should I wash with mild dish soap or slightly diluted isopropyl alcohol? Here is another leaf I found this morning with another one of those "hairs" on the back. This is so bizarre.

use insecticidal soap to instructions. Hand wash and ware dish washing gloves. After done use neem oil to instructions and get both sides of leaves.

Can you post pictures of your entire tree/s

The tree I show above has at lease half of it's leave damaged by insects, nutrient weakness and sunburn. most trees will display a lot of damaged leave that sill work fine to produce food.

Monica, If your soil is well draining and the roots are not rotted, your plants will leaf out amazingly fast when they go outside in the spring and will most likely be fine in those pots. Just be careful of your watering so they don't stay wet for too long. The trees often drop leaves just before the new growth starts in the spring, usually in mid February.

MYSTERY SOLVED

The hair like substance coming out of some leaves on my lemon tree is called hyphae. Now I know how to treat the tree. There's so much to learn and know about gardening. I thought it was a fun hobby but now I feel like I need a degree in horticulture lol

Here are a couple examples from the Internet.

There is a product I use called organocide that I get from Home Depot. It's 100% organic and it works VERY well on scale, mites and aphids. You should try it for your issue. I know you're a Bayer products proponent and so am I, however, things like this can easily be treated with a non invasive organic product.

I never heard of hyphae or mycelium. My husband showed the pictures to a horticulturist at work and he knew exactly what it was. I've been treating with insecticide when I should've been using a fungicide.

So much to learn.

Hyphae or mycelium are fungus structures. Your tree does not have hyphae or mycelium.

Stop stressing your self with these extra large magnifications.

Likely the decline is due to one or more of the following-- take your pick --: water (too much or too little); too little light; excessive unneeded pesticide applications; temperature (too low, perhaps for a short duration, and/or continuing because it's next to a window; dramatic light change when moved from high light outdoors to low light indoors.

Thanks Jean, lots of good circumstances you bring up and yes one or all can contribute to the conditions we all experience at some point.

In this case however, my husband works for Bayer CropScience and has access to dozens of horticulturalists and entomologists, so I'll take the guy with the degree opinion on this. My case is very minor but I was curious about what was going on with this tree to produce hair. I'm just glad it's a real thing and I'm NOT losing my mind.
