Ah, well, it seems I have survived the composting process myself! Anyway, for a cheap source of compostable litter, get 40 lb bags of stove pellets for wood burning stoves. It is about $4 a bag, as opposed to $8 for a 7lb bag of FelinPine®. As for toxoplasmosis, it is not pregnancy that is the issue, per se, rather it is only a VERY small time window (two weeks in the first trimester) during which the disease is transmittable to the fetus, and ONLY if the mother has not had prior exposure. And ONLY if the mother has a new cat, who ALSO has not been previously exposed, because th organism is only present in the feces during a brief window after initial exposure. I.e. it is almost impossible to get the toxoplasmid from cat feces. In fact, a study of the organism had to be scrapped and totally redesigned, because it was based on a sample population of cat owners, assuming they would harbor the organism. Instead, they found that there was no evidence that ANYONE had EVER contracted toxoplasmosis through this vector. Instead, they found that the vast majority of cases (close to 100%) resulted from pica.

I literally tried to do so many of these solutions that I could find all over the internet and none of them worked for me at least. My cat used to be the type that would kick her litter out of the box and then pee on it and that's why it was on my floor in the first place. I ended up just buying a thin hard bristled scrub brush and Pledge Gentle Wood Floor Cleaner from Walmart and I got down and scrubbed it out of the grains of my wood floor. It got it all out though! This may mess with the longevity of the floor but honestly I am in an apartment and I just need the stain to be gone. I guess if you need to you can get wood refinishing polish but I don't even think the apartments here got finished in the first place. Lmao. I hope this can help someone!

Because our house is large we put one litter box in the mudroom (first floor) and one in the master bedroom (second floor) for the new kitten. He's big enough now to go up and down the stairs during the night without us, and we are slowing weaning him off the upstairs litter box. We moved it down the hallway and showed him. He forgot, and in the morning he cried looking for it so I showed it to him again. We'll leave it there for a week or so and then keeping moving it closer to the other one. Cats are all different. My previous cat could have her box moved daily and it didn't phase her. This one isn't as sharp. We had the same issue with the butt hanging over the edge of the litter box (with the previous cat). We started using a mortar pan (available at HD) and that worked well. And larger container would work. I would take the litter box out of the bedroom and close the door. Put it right outside the bedroom. Slowing move it towards where you eventually want it to go.

Get a covered litter box, and put it in the corner with the opening facing the wall (with a little space between). Most cats can maneuver in or climb over the top, but dogs will have a harder time (quietly) sneaking in. You could also try converting a big plastic storage tub into a litter box - cutting a hole big enough for the cat in the lid created tops access, which makes it much harder for the dog to get in to. I also have a baby gate with a small cat door in it that I use to block my dogs - I had to zip tie the little door half way shut so the cats could get through, but the dogs couldn't squeeze in because it's obviously designed with a very fat cat in mind!
