Post menopause symptoms

I can't find much info on post menopause symptoms like there aren't any. I still have symptoms after 4 years of no menses. Hot flashes I can handle but I still have major allergy issues and fatigue. Anyone else have this ?

Yes im still having symptoms many new ones since the end of monthly cycles a year and a half ago!! Aches pains being newest thing

My post menopause symptoms are almost as bad as my peri menopause ones..They are almost constant muscular discomfort in shoulders mainly but recently in legs too. I still have the odd bout of lightheads. Hot flushes happen every couple weeks for a day or so which make me feel panicky .anxious. I have a long list of post meno effects.I thought it was supposed to get better and yet I have friends of my age who still have symptoms , some far worse than mine.

I work for a company that makes a natural herbal based menopause relief formula. It's got ashwagandha (sensoril), HMRlignan, vitamins, and minerals. I'm around a 30 year old male so I haven't tried it, but what I'm reading makes it seem pretty good because it's non-hormone based and ashwagandha seems like a pretty good adaptogen to use overall. My personal feeling, again as a man, is that menopause should not be painful and difficult and my mother said that she didn't have a bad time other than night sweats but she doesn't really associate that with menopause. She was a very healthy eater though and always had a rich garden of greens she'd eat from and was active and not overweight. As a nutritionist, I believe that most problems people are facing are from general lifestyle mis-steps such as not eating enough fruits and vegetables, not sleeping enough, not exercising enough, and being stressed. I would look at those areas before self-diagnosing myself as suffering from any malady because those are much more impactful than anything else. I hope that helps, David

Yes, I've had periods of very sensitive, swollen, uncomfortable breasts. When I had periods it would go away in a day or two, during perimenopause, lasted much longer and more severe. Got really bad when I was adjusting progesterone up and down. Now that I've gotten my progesterone dosage smoothed out, they are always a bit swollen but not terribly uncomfortable. It seems odd, I always thought that they would shrink to nothing when I went through menopause!

Yes! I've been on BCP forever because of PCOS. My doctor told me the same thing about getting off the pill to see if I'm in menopause or not. She said I had to be off it for 3 months before she could do an accurate blood test because my hormones would even out by then. About 3 months ago (while still on the pill) I started having the hot flashes and lots of headaches and aches and pains. I decided to go off the pill to see what would happen. I also went to a proper GYN and she said I only had to be off the BCP for 7 days before she could do the FSH test and determine whether or not I was menopausal. Result was a 32 she said was post menopausal. I haven't had a period for 2 months now off the pill, however these past few days I have had a lot of cramping, am very bloated and am having discharge that looks like ovulation. I don't know if that means I'll get a period or not. They say you are not officially in menopause until you have had no period for 12 months. So to answer your question: I felt that my menopause had started breaking through the BCP as well because I was experiencing those same symptoms...maybe the BCP just masked the menopause until it started coming on too strong to be masked??

It is very easy to feel alone. Most of the women I know are through it or went through it before me, no one really talks about it, I feel like I am having more problems than most. My mother, who is deceased, relied on pain pills and muscle relaxers, I have no intention of doing that. Like you said, some things I can eat and then all of the sudden I can't. I used to be extremely active but because of fatigue I do very little. Honestly, I feel like a shadow of who I used to be. I pray that it will gradually pass. You are not alone, I have read of others who are struggling. I don't know why some women have more problems than others. I always had very heavy periods, maybe I had a lot of estrogen, who knows. I can't do hormone replacement, my mom had breast cancer. I've tried a million kinds of supplements, my body is so sensitive that they either bother my stomach or any kind of photoestrogen makes me feel crampy like I've started something up so that's out. I can take a few supplements that I've found, just a lose dose B complex, vitamin D, calcium, and vitamin E for hot flashes. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to give you an idea of my situation.

I am thoroughly disgusted and sympathetic. My nightsweats/menopause started at 50. I am 58 and still suffer. They seem to come in waves. The doctors have no answers or help. With breast Cancer in my family I cant risk HRT. I finally got rid of my horrible periods i had all my life and now this! I am active, not overweight and try to eat decent. Its depressing and so tired of it all!

To deal with postmenopause symptoms you can look into Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, the treatment focuses on replacing your bodies natural hormones to prevent disease or illness, it can also help with symptoms. However if you are still experiencing symptoms it would be related to 1) your health 2) your body weight 3) your activity/ lifestyle. I have seen so many women in postmenopausal who are experiencing symptoms still, overcome them through simple diet/ activity and lifestyle adjustment. Here is a great facebook group I came across that focuses on helping women going through menopause (pre, peri, full and post) lose weight and overcome other symptoms.
