How exciting for you to be getting your stone! You get a medal for displaying so much patience. :) Would it be possible to get some samples of the stones you're considering and look at them in your space? Looking at your choices in your light with your cabs, tile, floor, etc could make the right one easier to find. As far as an edge change on the peninsula, I'd forgo that just because I like things simpler. And in that vein, I'd square off the corners of it unless you have a lot of little kids running around whose heads might sustain injury.

Stockholm seems too violet and the thermal is too light. I might use the thermal in my dressing room but I'm sort of stuck on some antique wallpaper. Dunno. DH wants me to finish already and don't think he'll take kindly to antique wallpapering right now. So I just might go thermal. But I might just leave it alone for now as well. The issue is that the blue is for a piece of furniture. The colors I"m getting are gray, not blue. I think now I understand why. But I don't want a gray china press I want a blue one. Except I want the blue they painted 200 years ago. Actually the gray sample I got was very close to the Stockholm. So if they drop some indigo in there I might be ok. I thought I could help by supplying a color from this end but I think that the paint for walls and paint for furniture are quite different. They just use pigment and linseed -- the old formula. Meanwhile, how fab are those C2 color samples? Wao. Those colors are really gorgeous. Can see why you like that paint. Maybe will rethink the brand I'm using when I repaint guest room and hallway. Who ever is selling you the cabinets ought to get you a sample before you order. You might have to pay for the sample, but I think it's worth it.

Sorry - lost track of this thread until it popped to the top. We are still playing with the marble sample and have been pleasantly surprised that, with time, the stains seem to have all but disappeared. You can still see them if you look at a 10-15 degree angle with the light just so but otherwise they really do blend well. What's really interesting is that I'm convinced the sealed half is not holding up as well as the unsealed one. My wife has taken to using the thing as a cutting board and that has scratched it a lot... That being said, we don't cut on our current countertops but this sample has the feel of an extra board. Happened to see Caesarstone's carrara today and it looked 'dirty' as others have said. As to the question of the Okite, I did not grab a photo - sorry! We did like it and it looks the least 'fake' compared to the other engineered stones that aim for the veining pattern. You really do need to see a slab in person. I can give you the info for someone in NH if that helps. We're planning a trip to a local marble/granite place to look at more white countertop options. I think we are moving back to marble though. E
